Notes From Nelson Aspen: Joshing With Josh

It may have been a while since Josh Duhamel played "Leo" on ALL MY CHILDREN, but his life continues to be a bit of a soap opera. The New York Post reported that an overzealous female fan had to be pulled off him at the NYC premiere of his new rom com, Life As We Know It (although I doubt that he actually stuck around til the end of the screening...how many times does an actor want to sit through their own movie!?).

Of course, it's impossible to escape the advertising onslaught of the flick, which stars the ubiquitous Katherine Heigl, who also co-produces it with her mom. I interviewed Katherine and Josh last week and asked him specifically about the "sex-ploitation" of him walking around in his boxer briefs that is used in all the advertising. (It's only a quick clip in the movie...blink and you miss it!) A very self-effacing and surprisingly shy guy, he admitted that he was hesitant to film the shot because of the beefcake element, but was convinced it would provide a laugh, juxtaposed with the baby walking alongside him in diapers. He was surprised when that became the image they've been using in so much of the promotion. But, hey...in movies, as in soaps..."sex sells!" And there is no denying that he is as charming onscreen alongside Heigl as he remains in real life. (I can tell you, he's a true gentleman. Insanely tall*, he is always especially gracious about accommodating seat heights when chatting with shorter interviewers, like myself!)

*IMDB lists him as 6'3 and I'm convinced he's a good three inches taller!
