Carol Pfander Henderson Has Passed Away

Carol Pfander Henderson died on July 29 after battling cancer for several years. She was 67.

A native of Maryville, Mo., the actress decided to pursue her first love — theater — at Drury University in Springfield. She moved to Kansas City to do graduate work in theater at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She became a student of Missouri Repertory Theatre founder Patricia McIlrath and was one of the early members of the acting company.

Following a brief stay in Los Angeles, Pfander headed in 1969 to the theater mecca of New York City. She found work in commercials and voice-overs and branched into television. She originated the role of nurse Kathy Ryker on THE DOCTORS in 1970 and played the part for over a year.

She is survived by her daughter, a sister, a brother, a niece and four nephews.
