Ron Carlivati on "Starr's X'd Lovers"

We Love Soaps had the privilege to attend a preview for the "Starr's X'd Lovers" musical episodes on ONE LIFE TO LIVE, that will be featured on May 14, 17, and 18th.  Here is head writer Ron Carlivati's thoughts about these special episodes, and ONE LIFE's summer.

We Love Soaps: How did the idea come up for you to do a musical at this point in the show?
Ron Carlivati: We had done the first one a few years back and it was a big success.  Because we had Starr graduating from high school this year, it was our last chance to do the senior prom.  So we thought that his was a good time to do another one.  But I was a little nervous taking on another whole musical.  It was quite a challenge.  But as you can see the results were amazing.  More than I possibly could imagine.  I was really getting choked up watching it, and seeing just how talented they are.  The work that went into this is incredible.

We Love Soaps: What else is coming up this summer that viewers can look forward to?
Ron Carlivati: What isn’t coming up?  This May sweeps period is just a spring board into the fallout for everything that happens afterward.  The musical launches us into summer not only with the kids, but with Jessica and Natalie as well.  In the beginning of June there is Bo and Nora’s wedding, and everyone will be there.  It’s really really fun.  That also launches us into summer.  It’s going to be a rollicking good time.

We Love Soaps: If someone had recently stopped watching ONE LIFE TO LIVE, what might you say to them to get them to come back?
Ron Carlivati: It really is can’t-miss now.  We have really great stories, and such a variety.  We have adventure, a really moving story with Tea that will pull in a lot of people, some of our couples are coming back together, and there are some new faces too.  I think the summer is a great time to turn in.

We Love Soaps: Is there anything else you would like to say to We Love Soaps readers about ONE LIFE?
Ron Carlivati: Just keep watching, and thank you for watching.  I am so excited about the musical and the summer.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Please come back tomorrow to read the We Love Soaps review of "Starr's X'd Lovers."  And don't miss this musical extravaganza starting Friday, May 14th, on ABC's ONE LIFE TO LIVE.
