My first thought was "Leslie Charleson's still on GH?" I admit I'm only a casual watcher (I can't stand the mafia storylines, and only watch to catch glimpses of the characters from Night Shift - I love Epiphany!), but it's nice to see the actors get credit. I like the actor name superimposed on the character name. Personally, I think it is modern and better than what they had!
Yawn. Not only is the song still a snooze, but the CGI looks cheap. The cheesy "Dynasty'esque" turns to camera by cast members are outdated & phony...and they're lighted poorly. Not flattering for most of them. Back to the drawing board, IMO.
I like it. I especially love the creeptastic castle in the background of Nicolas, Elizabeth and Lucky. My only concern is that they will not update it in a timely fashion. Like when Robin Christopher returns, will she makes the credits??
Where is Jackie Zeman? And I don;t like Liz and Lucky consigned to the Cassadine backdrop. They are a Spencer and a Hardy-Webber. SHould be either Kelly's or the hospital, not Wyndemere. Still, at least it features people who are still on the show.
LOVE THE NEW CREDIT OPENING TO GH. I SEE THEY HAVE TAKEN A PAGE FROM Y&R AND B&B AND HAVE PUT THE ACTORS NAMES ON WITH THEIR CHARACTER NAMES. SOMEWHAT REMINICENT TO NIGHT SHIFT, HAPPY TO HAVE KEPT THE THEME SONG. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT
I'm happy to have the update, but the parade of Golden Children at the credits' beginning was immediately annoying. It might have well said "Starring Maurice Benard, Laura Wright, Steve Burton and Kelly Monaco. Guest-starring some other people." The rate at which the "second stringers" rush past the screen is absurd. You can barely read the actors name AND look at the image before someone else pops up. Things do slow down when we get to Scrubs, of course. The show likes us to Know Who Matters.
And I agree with the other posters in that it looks cheap Ah, well...maybe they'll get it right the next time, in about six years.
Greg: It takes time for ABC to redo credits for all of their shows. Depending on how long Robin's with the show, it'll probably take a few months for her image to be added.
Other comments...
Yes, compared to the other ABC soaps, the theme music STILL is the worst redo of the 3.
Sequence is much better than its former one. There's still some work to do...
I like it, and appreciate that the images in the back kinda match up with the character. And I didn't realize Epiphany was on contract! As far as I'm concerned, this is an upgrade!
Pure CGI crap. This is what took them 5 months to put together? I could have done a better job in one afternoon!
ReplyDeleteAnd of course the chosen ones lead off the opening with the most time spent on their shots.

ReplyDeleteI like it. It includes the whole cast, gives the actors full credit, and keeps the theme song. Good stuff.

Yea now Y&R better update their opening credits...it's been far too long...

The images are much better, nicely done.
ReplyDeleteBut why did they stick with the circa 1993 Kenny G boring, bland smooth jazz version? Authenticity, not shlock and fakery, would have been nice.
