Spencer Grammer Talks GREEK

Spencer Grammer, who plays ZBZ sorority queen Casey Cartwright on GREEK, burst onto the soap scene in 2006 as Lucy Montgomery in AS THE WORLD TURNS (actually Dr. Lucy Montgomery). We had a laugh over her playing such a young doctor on the soap when she spoke with the media today about the upcoming season of GREEK which premieres on Monday, January 25, at 10 p.m. ET on ABC Family.

Spencer was a theatre major at Marymount Manhattan College but was. Originally from Los Angeles, and the daughter of Kelsey Grammer, she enjoys painting, making travel collages, playing X-Box 360 and spending time with her new puppy and two cats.

During the session, the talented young actress reflected on the past three years on the show.

We Love Soaps: How has this experience on GREEK been different than you thought it would be going into it?
Spencer Grammer: I booked the show from New York and I was like, "Well, I should probably keep my apartment because I don't know how long I'm going to be doing the show." And three years later I've bought a house in L.A. How does that happen? I don't know how that all ended up transpiring. I guess I didn't think it would last as long as it did. When we shot the pilot we all knew we had something special. There was a special bond with all of us. Everyone who was cast was different than I think you could have went with the show so that made it unique. We've all grown so much with our talent. Lo and behold, here we are, three years later, and it's been an incredibly wonderful experience.

We Love Soaps: What have you learned from playing Casey? Has she taught you anything about yourself?
I don't know if I've learned life lessons from Casey, but I'm definitely simpatico with her problems. Things have really touched me when they happen. When bad things happen to Casey they're always happening to me because I'm so invested in her story. And it's really enhanced by comic ability.

We Love Soaps: I'm one of those people who likes Casey with every guy. I like her with Cappie as much as Evan, and I liked her with Max. I think it's because you have such good chemistry with those guys. What do you attribute that to?
Spencer Grammer: They're all very charismatic, talented actors. I think I love falling in love as a character in a TV show so for me it's been really fun. That doesn't take away from my own life [laughs], I like falling in love in my own life too! It's just a testament to them. We've been lucky to have the chemistry that we have. It can be a hard environment to work with people that way but we're all respectful, open and very friendly, and that makes it really fun to play with.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Grammer previewed the upcoming season which will include a princess party, Mardi Gras, and guest star Sam Page (ex-Trey, ALL MY CHILDREN). In other storyline news, Grant comes out to his fraternity, Casey is thinking about the future and the ZBZs deal with the fallout of the Gamma Psi house burning down.
