National Equality March Today!

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) activists and supporters are in Washington this weekend for the National Equality March, sponsored by the grass-roots network, Equality Across America.

President Obama delivered a speech at the 13th annual Human Rights Campaign National Dinner on Saturday night.

I'm here with a simple message: I'm here with you in that fight. I will end 'don't ask-don't tell.' We should not be punishing patriotic Americans who have stepped forward to serve the country. We should be celebrating their willingness to step forward and show such courage ... especially when we are fighting two wars.

ONE LIFE TO LIVE star Robin Strasser (Dorian) was scheduled to appear at a drag ball, Marching for Equality…in Heels, on Saturday night and spoke to Advocate.com about her scheduled appearance (which was canceled).

They asked me if I would go, and then they made me the honorary chairperson! The power of yes. [Laughs] I never say yes unless my bod is going to be there! I think if you put your name on the committee with the invitation to an event, there is an obligation to show up, short of swine flu.

AS THE WORLD TURNS' actress Vanessa Ray (Teri) is among the other soap stars who have traveled to D.C. to stand up for equality. She tweeted this morning about the event.

D.C. Equality March! A lady who looked like Laura Bush just told me that she had been arrested 7X for civil disobedience. Rock Star.

You can watch the National Equality March at 2 p.m. ET this afternoon on C‑SPAN.

Since this is National Coming Out Day as well, here's ONE LIFE TO LIVE actor Nicholas Rodriguez talking to We Love Soaps about being and out actor working on a soap and the sense of responsibility to play the Nick/Kyle/Fish storyline positively.
