News Round-up: Chappell, GREY'S, Kay, Howard

"Certainly I have seen a change in media since I started acting. There has been the obvious decline of ratings, the expansion of cable, the presence of the internet. I believe the web is where we will see a lot of interesting new ideas. I have no problem with keeping VENICE on the web. If we had the opportunity to move to television, I would never compromise the integrity of the show. But that’s not even on my radar at this point."

GREY'S ANATOMY returns to good ratings
GREY'S premiered to 16.7 million viewers (average over two hours) on Thursday night. It was down a relatively modest 11% since last year's open.

Hispanic TV Summit: Sandoval Accepts Achievement Award, Touts P&G's Leadership in Market
Procter & Gamble General Manager of North American Marketing Edgar Sandoval closed out the 7th annual B&C/Multichannel News Hispanic Television Summit in New York Sept. 24 with a gracious acceptance speech after receiving, on behalf of P&G, an award for a lifetime of achievement in Hispanic TV.

Sandoval thanked his colleagues at P&G "who work tirelessly everyday to improve the lives of Hispanic consumers."

SAG elects Ken Howard president
Ken Howard's election to national president of the Screen Actors Guild amounts to a repudiation of the uncompromising strategy that previous prexy Alan Rosenberg embodied during his four-year tenure.

  1. I'm not an actor and don't work in the "industry." Everything that I've read about SAG makes me believe that the actors have shot themselves in the foot by electing Howard.
