News Round-up: 90210, Mauceri, Ad Spending, Easton

90210's New Opening Credits
The second season opening features new images and a themesong recorded by indie Los Angeles musicians.

INTERVIEW: ATWT's Terri Colombino (Katie)
On the rumor that Jack will kill Brad: "I don’t know where that came from. I guess there are grains of truth in everything but that’s not exactly [it]. It doesn’t even matter what people are saying because the way it unfolds is going to be so amazing to watch. I wish that no spoilers ever came out. Remember 'who shot J.R.?' If you knew that he was going to be shot, but didn’t know who did it, how fun is that? You’d be like, “well we still don’t know who did it.” It takes away from the experience. I think that may be one of the reasons that soaps aren’t doing so well anymore. You know too much. You should just watch it and experience it."

Nielsen: Ad Spending on Cable TV up in First Half of Year; All Other Forms of Advertising—Including Internet, Print and Broadcast, Syndication & Local TV—Were Down
Of all media used by advertisers to get their messages to consumers, only spending on cable TV was up in the first half of 2009 compared to 2008, according to the Nielsen Company. Cable TV was up 1.6%, Nielsen said. This was especially impressive since cable was down in the first quarter by 2.7%, according to Nielsen. Network TV was down 7%. Syndication was down 11.6%.

INTERVIEW: OLTL's Michael Easton (John)
"I’m very thankful for my day job. It means I don’t have to pander to anybody. Chris and I had offers to do 'Soul Stealer' at bigger publishing companies but we chose not to because they started to have a lot of restrictions. They wanted creative involvement. One company wanted to cut out all the mythology."

OLTL's Scott Evans on his one night only performance of "My Big Gay Italian Wedding"
"I'm excited!" enthuses Evans. "It's crazy because I play, for lack of a better word, the 'straight' character in the show. The whole family is just so, so hysterical. Being the one who doesn't make the jokes and is trying to make everything go off without a problem is fun."

David Harts take on the Patricia Mauceri situation
"She is probably planning a Prejean-like victimization tour."

GIVE ME A BREAK: Right wing tries to use Mauceri to oppose ENAA
Some right wing bloggers are using the Patricia Mauceri exit from ONE LIFE TO LIVE as a tool to oppose ENDA's inclusion of sexual orientation. "Call your Congressman and Senators next week and urge them to oppose ENDA — the Employment Nondiscrimination Act — which would federalize 'sexual orientation' law and greatly expand government power to promote the 'gay' agenda."

B&C: Network's Desperate For Some Glee
With more on the line than ever for the broadcast networks this season, the presidents weigh in on some of the biggest questions about to be answered.
