US actor Larry Hagman, best known for his role as J.R. Ewing, the unscrupulous heir to a Texas oil fortune in DALLAS, plays a millionaire again in a new Spanish television series which debuted Tuesday.
He plays Richard Slater, an American with "dubious morals" who hid the fact that his son was adopted from a Spanish family in the afternoon soap opera WE ARE ACCOMPLICES, private television station Antena 3 said on its website.
"He is a very, very wealthy man somewhat like J.R.who a long time ago adopted a young boy from Spain and he wanted to pay the family back, give them recognition and help them if he can and he came back to find the family of his son," the actor said in a video posted on the website.
Hagman started filming the series at the end of July in Marbella, one of Europe's most exclusive resorts which is frequented by royalty and films stars, and other locations along Spain's Costa del Sol in the Mediterranean.
He speaks broken Spanish during some scenes of the series while in most he talks in English and Spanish subtitles are provided.
Years before DALLAS and even I DREAM OF JEANNIE, Hagman appeared as Ed Gibson on THE EDGE OF NIGHT.
Good for Hagman. He gets an acting gig and a nice time in Espana.
