News Round-up: Goddard, Mauceri, Watkins, SOD

NY DAILY NEWS: Patricia Mauceri walks from OLTL rather than act in gay storyline
Mauceri, who has played diner purveyor Carlotta Vega on ONE LIFE TO LIVE for 14 years, refused to play the story as written, saying a Latina mother would not be so gay accepting. Rather, Mauceri rewrote the scenes to make Carlotta confused and troubled, and submitted them to OLTL execs.

"That's not the story we're telling," responded an exec.

Mauceri then said she could not play the scenes as written, so the show called Saundra Santiago.

Watkins storyline a "first"
Tuc Watkins will be back on August 10 as David Vickers in a story line that will be a first for daytime.

"David has decided to produce a reality TV show, so he's going to be sticking a camera in everyone's face," says Robert S. Woods, who plays David's newfound father, Bo. "Clint pulls a gun on him!"

Cosgrove to OLTL?
OLTL is reportedly wooing Daniel Cosgrove, who plays Bill on GUIDING LIGHT, to come on board as Joey Buchanan.

No love in the time of Argentine swine flu
In a country where cheek kisses are part and parcel of greetings, even television soap opera producers have contributed to a nationwide effort to convince Argentines to keep their distance, at least for now.

"Luckily, I'd already filmed my kissing scenes," Paraguayan actor Arnaldo Andre told Argentine newspaper Clarin. "We're trying to take all necessary precautions. We've stopped kissing colleagues and, to the extent possible, we keep our distance during scenes."

Lisa LoCicero has officially been placed on contract on GENERAL HOSPITAL. The 39-year-old actress has played Olivia Falconeri on the ABC soap since September 2008 and has earned quite a fan following.
