News Round-up: DTV, Lauralee Bell, Gilles Marini

The CW could see a boost in viewers with the digital transition

Deep Soap: Is SOAPnet canibbalizing ABC’s audience?
Sara Bibel writes: "It’s possible that the cable crowd loves OLTL’s Stacy and AMC’s Liza. But there could be other explanations. There is a chance that the network’s reach (the number of households in which SOAPnet is available) increased. Perhaps Disney managed to get the channel carried on a few more providers, or included on lower priced packages. The more people who have access to SOAPnet, the more that will be able to watch it."

INTERVIEW: Y&R's Lauralee Bell (ex-Christine)
"I am so geared up into my own little projects right now, but there are a couple of things where it would make sense. For the funerals, and when Danny came back for our party, that kind of made sense. But, I knew it would be a couple of lines here and there, and wouldn’t have any meaning. And if I come back, I really want it to count. I wanted it to be a helpful discussion for Phillip, or Nina, or Paul. I don’t think I would come back for a long period of time. But, I certainly would be open to it."

Kyra Sedgwick: THE CLOSER is "better than ever" in Season 5
"There's always a concern," says the former ANOTHER WORLD actress, "about how to keep it interesting but I feel the writers consistently show us great material. I continue to find the character fascinating, a challenge. I honestly think it’s better than ever."

In his first major gig since making it to the finals of "Dancing" (in which he came in second to Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson), Marini has signed a multi-episode arc on B&S to star as a potential love interest to Sarah Walker (Rachel Griffiths).

Hot Models PUSHED TheWB Into Racy Drama
"PUSHED is really almost like a better version of THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL in bite sized, easily consumable amounts."
