Lynn Herring Joins AS THE WORLD TURNS

AS THE WORLD TURNS has hired former GENERAL HOSPITAL star Lynn Herring to play Audrey, the gold-digging mother of Henry Coleman (Trent Dawson). She debuts on July 24. In a new interview with TV Guide Magazine's Michael Logan, Herring talks about the new role.

One day I’m on the ranch giving shots to my horses with cow poop on my boots and the next I’m on the set at ATWT all dressed up with makeup and heels. I haven’t worn heels in five years! I couldn’t sleep the whole first week I was in New York because I’m so used to the silence of the ranch. But you know what’s funny? I’m staying in a sublet on Central Park South right across from where they park the horse carriages—so the smell of manure is still in the air!

The way I figure, Audrey was a teenage mom. The backstory is that she ditched all the kids and Henry had to take care of them, so he has a lot of anger issues with her. They agree to not discuss dear old dad… I think he was abusive.

Chris Goutman said the main story is six-to-eight weeks long and then we’ll see what happens after that. If it ends there, I will love it and be appreciative. If it goes on, I can’t lose.

They’re bringing in Michael Woods as someone attached to Audrey, a guy named Jay who wants money from her.

Woods has played a major role on AS THE WORLD TURNS already, as Alec Wallace. Margo went to jail for murdering him in late 1999, but it turned out Georgia was the culprit. The original plan was for Emily to be the killer, but that was rewritten.

  1. OK, Lynn Herring is 50 (and still looks great) and Trent Dawson is 38. I can't believe that she will be believable as his mother.

And what is Chris Goutman's obsession with ex-GH/PC actors? There are no NY actresses who could play this part???

  2. I think the average fan believes it is Barbara Bloom who has a hand in all these PC actors coming to ATWT, but who knows. Lynn is a great actress and I'm sure she'll do well in the role.

I'm more curious about Michael Woods, because he had a major role on the show before so I wonder if he looks completely different now or will interact with Margo and Tom.

  3. I have to say that I'm thrilled that Lynn is back in daytime. I'm also trying to imagine her as Jill on Y&R. But I agree with you Roger, the Michael Woods casting is quite strange.

  4. The age difference doesn't seem ridiculous. There's only nine years difference between Ron Raines and Grant Aleksander, and seven years difference between Ronn Moss and John McCook.

Trent easily looks five years younger or so, so it's believable that she could have had Henry at 16.

But yes, someone at P&G looooves Michael Woods. Odd that he would come back so soon. Wonder if they'll make him look different?
