ABC will be moving UGLY BETTY to Fridays at 9pm ET this fall. The show has air in the Thursday at 8pm ET timeslot for its first three seasons.
"I love the show [and] America [Ferrera] is one of our biggest stars," says ABC president Stephen McPherson. "[But] you look at [BETTY's declining ratings on] Thursday night and we think we have a big opportunity with Flash Forward. You have to make some bold moves sometimes. To me, I'd love to see [BETTY] have a great run on Friday night the way GHOST WHISPERER has [for CBS]."
Wednesday's will be all-new with HANK, THE MIDDLE, MODERN FAMILY, COUGAR TOWN (GH's Carolyn Hennesy will appear) and EASTWICK (DAYS' Ashley Benson is featured).
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, GREY'S ANATOMY, PRIVATE PRACTICE and CASTLE will maintain their current timeslots.
Regardingthe Neilsen system, why has it taken so long to the industry to begin to question the valididty of the Neilsen ratings system? It is quite obvious that teh company has failed to change with the times. I have been arguing for years that the system is antiquated and needs to be changed to reflect the changes in how we now view TV. We are no longer confined to watching it on the "tube" at a set time as we were 25-30 years ago. It is shame because we are seeing shows, like Guiding Light go down based upon data that simply does not reflect the viewing habits of today.
ReplyDeleteOh, I posted this in the wrong place! Sorry Roger!
