From 2008 to 2009 I have graduated in CBS Soaps in Depth from unnamed fan to "soap blogger Roger Newcomb".The images to the left are from SID year to year (2009 on top) taken at the annual Nuke-a-Palooza event.
What's hilarious to me, and I wanted to share, was a friend of mine saw the new issue of SID and thought that Nuke-a-palooza was MY party, as in "Nuke" was short for Newcomb. I laughed all Friday morning about that. "Nuke" was actually a nickname of mine by some folks in high school but it's been 20 years since anyone has called me that.
One thing I like about SID is that they give us more photos and coverage from fan events than the other magazines. Sure, it's not hard "news" and we can probably see most of these pictures online, but for those not online, SID really gives fans the best sense of what is happening with the actors outside of the soap bubble.
I'm not sure who is responsible for mentioning me by name in the June 8 issue, but thank you!
