Crystal Chappell posted a beautiful message on her blog. The passion she feels for her fans, GUIDING LIGHT, and Otalia shines through.
Hello Everyone!
Bear with me while I figure out exactly what this blog will be. It may be a hodge podge of ideas because that seems to be my make up. But, either way,the point is to be able to reach out to each other. So, here we go.
I continue to be blown away by the amount of love, passion and compassion that flows through my email. I've always appreciated the support of you fans but never more than I have in the past few months. The news that GL was canceled was shocking and devastating. Even when you know a show's struggling, you hope for the best. And, I believe, we were on our way to some interesting story.
Regarding the Otalia story, I've heard from fans from all over the world and varying belief systems, who've said their hearts and minds have opened to new or different ideas. And, recognize the common thread amongst all of us, love. Asking interesting questions: Where do we find hope? What is real love? What does it look like? What is a family? What is happiness? True joy? It's been inspirational for me to hear such great words.
We at GL have been given plenty of pats on the back over the years, but the truth is it's we who applaud you. For your dedication and on-going support. And for just being down-right great!
I have LOVED playing Olivia! Yes, she can be a bit whacked but I always knew there was a blooming heart underneath it all. I consider the Otalia story to be one of my proudest accomplishments. If, in any way, I've touched a life, a thought, or at least served as some kind of distraction for those who need to look away for a moment from a hardship they're dealing with, I am grateful. It truly has been my privilege.
For those of you who have never written a fan letter but have started, THANK YOU! For you who have and continue, THANK YOU! Your voices are powerful. They've certainly touched me.
I will continue to love and support GUIDING LIGHT, no matter where it goes!

Roger, thank you for your support. This is a win win situation. Crystal is blown away by fan support and we are blown away that she actually cares about her fans! Not only is she an incredibly gifted actress but she is a totally amazing individual!

That the role has given so much to the actor and audience is more than most can say. This lady is class personified. Which is probably why for us, she *is* the Emmy.

ReplyDeleteCrystal Chappell is one of those rare people in this world; she is passionate about her craft, wildly talented at it, humble, gracious and compassionate. The integrity and dignity with which she has always played Olivia, but especially infused in her performances in this storyline, never cease to amaze me. Add to that the fact that all of this applies to her as a person as well and you can begin to understand why her fans love her and are so devoted. I am proud to count myself among them.
Crystal Chappell is a goddess indeed.
Crystal is a class act- such a lovely woman, inside and out! I'm so thankful for the work she does on Guiding Light, her talent, effort, and support of saving Guiding Light and her involvement in the Otalia storyline, and the love she gives right back to her fans. We are so lucky to have her!

I will say that never has an actor's graciousness, compassion, professionalism, internal and external beauty shone as brightly. I have personally never been moved to comment on a story or an actor before, but Crystal Chappell's openness and willingness to embrace her fans is refreshingly contagious.

ReplyDeleteCrystal truly is an amazing actress, and it is a testament to her (and JL) how "invested" all of the fans have become in not only her current storyline (Otalia) and work on GL, but no doubt any future endeavours she may undertake. I know I am not hte only fan here in the UK that hopes that not only is GL saved, but also hope it will be shown on TV here.
It is soooo refreshing to hear of a person in the public eye who genuinely appreciates their fans.

She is blown away by the fans; we are blown away by her, everyday, and not just her acting ability, but her commitment to telling this amazing love story, with such heartfelt, realistic emotion, that you can't help but fall in love with the story and with her and Jessica. But, what is also heartwarming is her sincere love and appreciation for her fans and the worldwide fans of the show. Why is she so surprised about how much we care for her and GL. ReplyDeleteCrystal's a true artist. Versatile. Otalia wouldn't be the story it is without Crystal. The writer's are wonderful, and appreciated, but Crystal Chappell has made it work!! No EMMY this year! I emailed and wrote them complaining. I'm done with the Emmy's!!

I don't know where she draws her courage and beauty from but I am so glad she is racing with the perfect storm the GL team has created to highlight love in its most beautiful form. I doubt any other actress would have been so capable and in awe of her own privilege and be so willing to share this experience so intimately with her fans as CC does.
