Soap fans know what they like and aren't afraid to campaign for it in a clever way. Case in point, a new website is up and running at
billjrmustshave.com asking for Don Diamont's new BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL character Bill Spencer, Jr. to shave off his facial hair.
Absolutely NOT!
ReplyDeleteA. It is sexy
B. It distinguishes Bill Jr. from Brad.
C. It is sexy
Mark, I expect a billjrmustnotshave.com site up any time now. :)
ReplyDeleteShouldn't soap fans be more worry if their show is going to get cancel next instead of campaign which actor needs a shave?
ReplyDeleteJust saying...
No Jeff. This is an awesome campaign. It highlights that soaps can be FUN! Rather than all this Sturm und Drang about genre-survival.
ReplyDeleteFinally some FRIVOLITY.
Not that Don's facial hair is frivolous. We're DEADLY SERIOUS that he must keep it :).
I thought it was a fun thing and a nice break from the "soaps are dying" articles we seem to be reading all the time.
ReplyDeleteI think I sort of like the facial hair too.
I think Mark's right. Don really needs to distinguish Bill from Brad, and the new look helps him do that. Plus, from the interviews Don has given, Bill sounds like a really dark character, very much like his dad, and they mysterious look suits him.
ReplyDeleteSo if billjrmustnotshave.com comes into being, you can count on me to sign up. :)
HOT!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you MarkH to a point, but when I see things like Pratt Falls bits and silly stuff like fan campaigns that has nothing to do with demanding changes to the behind scene people or has any impact within the industry, then I see those things as corny and pointless and gives other fans who aren't the "crazy soap fans" type that the industry look down upon a bad rep.
