News Round-up: DH Weddings, Casiello, Sweeney

Ausiello TV: GG and DH scoops
Blair makes a deal with the devil in the April 20 episode of GOSSIP GIRL. There will be two upcoming engagements on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.

INTERVIEW: Soap Vet Nicholas Walker
Walker was a guest on "Brandon's Buzz" on Monday night. Walker stepped away from Hollywood several years ago to follow his other passion --- landscape design --- and has just teamed up with the legendary Kathy Ireland as her design ambassador.

TOM CASIELLO: Flying Blind
"I worry that the fatalistic, defeatist attitude that has been hovering over soaps like a dark cloud will continue - a mentality of 'We're fated to be canceled, so let's just get by until it happens.' And it doesn't have to be that way. None of us have to go gently into that good night."

Alison Sweeney: Today's DAYS
"I also was surprised at the tag of the show. Ha! James snuck in a little ad-lib 'women'. Ha! He cracks me up. But such a great, real reaction right? From EJ’s point of view, Sami totally did a 180. Based on the tweet replies I received sounds like you all laughed too! James’ll love it."

Soaps push the envelope
"But while soap operas have long been stereotypically dismissed as a frivolous indulgence that housebound women waste their time watching while ignoring their domestic duties, one could argue that soap operas have often been on the cutting edge of mainstream TV, at least when it comes to sexuality. Losing such a mainstream outlet for these issues is a bit tragic. I just hope we don’t end up throwing the baby out with the soapy bathwater and that mainstream television continues to shine some light on sexuality issues that are important to all of us."

GL's impact continues to be felt
MyCentralJersey.com's Jay Jefferson Cook writes: "I found out that an interior and some exterior locations for GUIDING LIGHT are filmed in Peapack-Gladstone. So I took a ride out there to see what I could see. Of course I only watched the show for about six months, and not since 1980ish when they disco-fied the theme song and changed the logo, so I don't know what the heck I was looking for."

Sara Bibel on Marcie leaving OLTL
"I’d like to think that there are quite a few guys who would like to date a published author with an amazing singing voice who is a caring friend… and has boobs. In fact I’d wager than 99% of the men worth dating would choose Marcie over skanky, psycho Stacy. I know I’d prefer to keep seeing Marcie on my screen."
