Thoughts on The Four Musketeers Reunion

It has been a real treat to watch the past two episodes of GUIDING LIGHT featuring Phillip, Beth, Rick and Mindy. Despite all the crazy things that have happened and the drama in Phillip and Beth's lives at the moment, taking a break to go back to their roots again was much needed.

Rick has provided his unique brand of humor (or is that Michael O'Leary's humor) and Mindy has been just perfect as she revisits her old stomping grouds. Those two have offset some of the tension and awkwardness between Phillip and Beth.

I'm not sure I loved how Phillip left the luncheon to go throw Grady off a cliff, but since Grady is pretty dispensable I guess someone had to do it. What will be interesting to watch now is how Phillip reacts to the fact that he might have killed someone. I think he believes he's a changed man and this incident will probably make him question himself.

But once it was done, he showed up at the dance and shared some fun moments with the other "Musketeers" and a really cute moment when Mindy re-crowned Phillip and Beth as king and queen of the prom. Phillip and Beth once again showed the old magic as they danced and she told him how safe she felt at their original prom in his strong hands. He wasn't so sure he had it in him to protect her anymore.

My only gripe is the music. What kind of 80s prom reunion isn't loaded with 80s songs? Why couldn't Phillip and Beth dance to their song, Lionel Richie's "Truly" or at least some other cheesey 80s romantic ballad. At some points the non-80s music with no lyrics was distracting. At least Heart got a mention.

But all in all this reunion has been a nice homage to the original prom. Their lives have changed, three of them have kids now, and they've all been married to other people, but yet they can come together and have fun and try to forget their troubles for a day. It's obvious The Four Musketeers will always be a part of each other's lives and still care about each other, and that's one reason I still care about them so much. It will be sad to say goodbye to Mindy tomorrow after this brief visit. Please bring her back soon.
