Out P&G Exec Moving On

Susan Arnold, a business trailblazer who is leaving a top job at Procter & Gamble Co., is expected to draw interest from consumer-oriented companies seeking a CEO, including Sears Holdings Corp. and Playboy, according to Tuesday’s Wall Street Journal.

Arnold will step down from her position as Procter & Gamble’s top female officer, and serve in a special assignment until September, the company announced today. She has served as president of P&G’s global business units.

This is not really soap related per se, but I remember Nuke fans contacting Ms. Arnold during the Luke and Noah kissing ban last year looking for a sympathetic ear at the company.

If Arnold takes a CEO job at a Fortune 500 company, she would be among just 16 women at the top of such a company and the only openly gay CEO of a major U.S. public company, the Journal reported.

  1. I am very curious. How did she handle the contact from the Luke and Noah fans? Was she, indeed, a sympathetic ear?

  2. I don't think fan ever heard anything from anyone at P&G other than getting a "form" postcard thanking us for letters and emails sent.

She didn't really have anything to do with the production of the show, but as an out exec seemed like a possible person who might have been willing to listen.

Whatever happened behind the scenes there is unknown. The kissing ban ended six weeks or so after the Nuke media blitz blew up so it obviously had an impact. I'm just not sure how that all went down at P&G.
