News Round-up: Rigby Extends, Laura Wright, Telemundo

INTERVIEW: B&B's Kyle Lowder and Jacqueline Macinnes Wood (Rick and Steffy)
Lowder: "I really believe Rick loves Steffy more than life itself. The problem right now is that he has so much baggage with this whole thing. I think his general love for Steffy is clouded by the fact of his revenge against Ridge. I think he has become so obsessesed with making this relationship work."

Wood: "It’s good to finally click with your character and get your character, even though you are being thrown 'curve balls'. I am Steffy now. The things we get to play can be crazy, and we play great off of each other. With the Rick and Steffy relationship it’s complete honesty and no games."

Blind actress McGeever lands role on EMMERDALE
Actress Kitty McGeever, 41, who lost her sight at the age of 33 from a diabetes-related illness, has landed a part in ITV's rural soap, Emmerdale. She is set to arrive in the village as blind character Lizzie Lakely, an old friend of Lisa Dingle, next month.

Kitty said: "I'm thrilled to be joining Emmerdale as Lizzie and delighted that the show is challenging stereotypes in this way. Lizzie spells trouble from the word go and will be causing all kinds of strife in the village."

INTERVIEW: GH's Laura Wright and Tyler Christopher (Carly and Nikolas)
Wright: "You know, everything that you guys think, we think. We read the script and say 'What the hell?' For example, there was a good storyline in place between Jax, Carly and Nikolas. But it was overruled because apparently Carly needs to hang out with Sonny and Jason. That was a bummer."

Christopher: "My character was tied to the character of Emily for years and when they finally were separated, the fans wanted no part of it. So, with Natalia gone, there wasn't much for me to do."

WHERE ARE THEY NOW: Y&R/B&B actress Darcy Rose Byrnes
Byrnes was on MEDIUM last night. She will guest on MY NAME IS EARL soon and on GHOST WHISPERER later this season.

From the “advertising that works” department — Cheetos
Patrice Smith writes for Bizmology: "Discovered this Cheetos ad while watching FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS on NBC.com. Now, as far as junk food goes, Cheetos is not one of my go-to faves, but I changed my mind after this ad. It works brilliantly. It takes the singular negative of the food product — the orange stuff that gets all over your fingers — and in one stroke of genius turns it into a positive. After months of depressing business news, isn’t it nice that something is working right?"

Joe Swash would go back to Walford in a couple of years
Joe Swash has revealed he'd be interested in returning to EASTENDERS one day. The actor played Albert Square's Mickey Miller from 2003 until 2008 and has fond memories of being on the BBC One soap. He said: "Yeah I think I would like to return to EASTENDERS and I do miss EASTENDERS, but I wouldn't want to return straight away. I mean in a couple of years time then maybe I'll go back, but I just want to see if I can do some work on my own you know, stand on my own two feet."

Emma Rigby extends HOLLYOAKS contract
HOLLYOAKS actress Emma Rigby is to stay on at the Channel 4 soap for an additional six months. In November, the 19-year-old - who plays Hannah Ashworth - revealed her intention to leave the show this month, remaining on screen until June. However, after meetings with new producer Lucy Allan, she has agreed to stay with the soap until at least October.

INTERVIEW: HOLLYOAKS' Nathalie Emmanuel (Sasha)
"I think that Sasha going for an older boyfriend helps her in her mission to feel more grown up. Also, what girl doesn't like a bad boy? Warren fits both requirements and she sees him as a challenge, too. Apart from that, she has quite an addictive personality, so when sets her eyes on someone or something, she'll go to any length to get it."

INTERVIEW: DAYS OF OUR LIVES' Rachel Melvin
"I’ve also kind of learned who I am as an actor and as a person the last four years on the show so when I go into auditions now I don’t go into them the same way. I’m not as nervous, I mean sometimes I am, but I’m not nervous and I don’t let other people’s demeanor or appearance intimidate me. I am what I am, I do what I do, if you like it you’ll take it and if you don’t someone else will."
