News Round-up: Hillary Smith, Otalia, Depression & Soaps

INTERVIEW: OLTL's Hillary B. Smtih (Nora)
"I think this whole situation, with Matthew and bringing Nora and Bo back together in this realm where nobody will understand what they go through except each other, will be very interesting to see what happens. It could make them fight, because when Nora and Bo thought Matthew was doing drugs, it put them at odds. Nora had dabbled and Bo hadn’t. It just pointed out the things they didn’t know about each other and set them at odds. So, when you get down to the basics, when something you love is going to be taken away you go primal. You don’t think in the terms of you did this, and you did that. And, I think whatever hurt came between Bo and Nora gets shelved. It just comes down to Matthew needs them and they need each other."

Mandy Gonzalez Guests on ABC's 'ONE LIFE TO LIVE'
"In the Heights" star Mandy Gonzalez is set to play Lauren Hoffman, a representative from a drug treatment center on ONE LIFE TO LIVE beginning March 26th. The actress is currently set for four episodes.

DEEP SOAP: The Third Lesbian Is The Charm
Sara Bibel writes: "GUIDING LIGHT's Otalia has become the most interesting and genuinely adult romantic storyline on television. Olivia’s visit to lesbian night at a local bar was radical for its portrayal of lesbians as ordinary to the point of dullness. This was an instance where GL’s set issues worked to its advantage. The drab set populated with average looking forty year old women showed that there’s more to lesbian life than THE L WORD. The revelation that mayor Doris was gay was both surprising and plausible. Making Doris a lesbian also could set up a love triangle down the road, without having to throw a man into the mix."

PATRICK ERWIN: The D Word
"I was pleased to see another Springfield citizen - and one of my favorite supporting characters at GL - in the lavender spotlight this week. We learned (in a very clever way) that Doris Wolfe loves the ladies."

On the Soap Shrink’s Couch: Newly Bereaved Father Buzz Cooper
Damon L. Jacobs writes: "Losing someone you love is one of the hardest experiences you will ever have to go through. If you have ever cared about someone who has died, then you know the palpable heartache that brings pain throughout your entire body. But if you have ever lost a child, then you will understand the overwhelming anguish and paralyzing rage that has overtaken Buzz Cooper these days on GUIDING LIGHT."

Depressions and Soaps Don’t Mix
Marlena De Lacroix writes: "When I was aching and depressed about my job search, at least I knew I could sit down every day and escape into my favorite shows. Even though at the time they were not so great (Higley was writing ONE LIFE TO LIVE, B&E ALL MY CHILDREN and LML for THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS), the soaps were there every day to make me feel safe, to give me something concrete to look forward to. The far away antics of my fave characters — Dorian, Viki, Big Steph, Ric Lansing, snappy Jack and crazy Gloria — kept me occupied, and, for a while, kept my mind off my troubles. The LAST thing I wanted to see on these shows was anyone who was emulating my life looking for a job."

It is seeking damages in an amount to be determined at trial.

  1. Good information.

In the present economic situation if you are looking to get your message across to people and advertising your business without spending loads of money, then you can opt for traditional outlets like print advertising agencies. These agencies can offer you classified ad space at special discounts. This is also a great opportunity especially if you are setting up a new business or are tight on your advertising budget.

When you use a professional ad agency, you tend to receive an early notice of the special offers and prices and also a considerable reduction in the advertising rate for national press. So help your business grow by promoting it in the low priced publications. Use print media to cut your costs and boost your advertising efforts in this growing economic recession.
