Soaps Salute Oscar Winning Movies

There have been a number of movie fantasies over the years on soaps. Nola Reardon on GUIDING LIGHT was a huge fan of old movies and constantly fantasized about her life in those settings. But she wasn't the only one. Here are some classic videos where the soaps paid homage to Oscar winning films.

WUTHERING HEIGHTS: The 1940 Oscar winner for "Best Cinematography, Black-and-White" was one of Nola's many fantasies on GUIDING LIGHT in the early 80s.

CASABLANCA: 1944 Oscar winner for "Best Picture", "Best Director", and "Best Writing, Screenplay" was recreated in 1994 on GUIDING LIGHT as Buzz fantasized about Jenna and Nadine. It was also used as inspiration for one of Delia's many fantasies on RYAN'S HOPE (this one with Randall Edwards as Delia).

ON THE TOWN: The 1950 Oscar winner for "Best Music, Scoring of a Musical Picture" was recreated with a twist in AS THE WORLD TURNS 2008 Valentine's Day special.
