News Round-up

ABC Family shuffles lineup - renews GREEK, cancels KYLE XY
ABC Family has made major changes to its lineup, giving 10-episode orders to femme-targeted series RUBY AND THE ROCKITS, PERFECT 10 and 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU.

All three series hail from ABC Studios. In addition, cabler has renewed the college-life-themed GREEK and the family drama LINCOLN HEIGHTS, while canceling sci-fi series KYLE XY.

A renewal announcement for the network’s hit series THE SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER is still pending.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHT ratings hold steady this week
FNL put up numbers on Friday on par with its second episode — about four million viewers.

Baby boom on CORONATION STREET
It has been revealed that another CORRIE star is to become a parent after actor Graeme Hawley (John Stape) announced that he and his wife Elianne are to have their first child in the summer.

CORRIE star comes to Canada
As always, each year the British Isles Show in Toronto, put on by B. Martin Productions, has an actor from CORONATION STREET as a guest. That actor will also be stopping by Halifax, Nova Scotia on the way through for an event hosted by the Downeast Streeters Non Profit Society. This year's guest will be Michael LeVell who plays Kevin Webster and he will be making autograph appearances at the show in Toronto over the course of the weekend of April 3 - 5, 2009.


As more companies target the growing U.S. Hispanic population, Hispanic marketers are trying to extend their sales to the rest of America. Take Goya Foods, the $1 billion U.S. Hispanic-owned food company. Founded in 1936 by Spanish immigrant Prudencio Unanue and still run by his grandchildren, Goya first catered to Caribbean immigrants, then branched out into Mexican and other Latin American foods. Now it's taking advantage of Latin food's popularity to win new customers. One of the "integrations" they did was a sweepstakes with ABC that landed the winner a trip to Los Angeles for dinner with a star from GENERAL HOSPITAL.

A new episode, Part 2 of "Unconditional Love Does Not Mean Love Without Boundaries," aired on Sunday night.
