15th Annual SAG Awards Tonight


Joey Fatone worked the red carpet with former DAYS OF OUR LIVES actress Lisa Rinna tonight as the stars arrived for the TNT/TBS broadcast of the 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES' Teri Hatcher wore an interesting white dress to the event.

In early awards announced during the red carpet, HEROES beat FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS in the Stunt Ensemble category for television. The Dark Knight won the same award for film.

Meryl Streep of Doubt and Sean Penn of Milk won film lead-acting honors. The prize for overall film cast went to the rags-to-riches saga Slumdog Millionaire.

Heath Ledger's (ex-Snowy, SWEAT; ex-Scott, HOME AND AWAY) sociopathic reinvention of Batman bad guy the Joker in The Dark Knight earned him the film supporting-actor honor, while Kate Winslet is the winner of the supporting-actress award for the Holocaust-themed drama The Reader.

In the TV categories, Alec Baldwin (ex-Billy, THE DOCTORS) accepted the award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a comedy series for 30 ROCK, and his co-star Tina Fey won the award for outstanding performance by a female actor.

The hit comedy show picked up another gong after Jane Krakowski won the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

The entire cast later got on stage to accept the award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series, while actor Jon Hamm accepted the award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series for MAD MEN.

Sally Field has accepted the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for BROTHERS & SISTERS.

House star Hugh Laurie won outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series.
