Emmy-winning suds vet Heather Tom, who's currently giving her tear ducts a workout on THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, will be moonlighting on UGLY BETTY this fall. She'll play a State Department liaison to Daniel's long-lost son in at least three episodes. I'm going to venture a guess that Daniel Sr. will want to, ahem, liaise with her as well.
FNL's Minka Kelly and Derek Jeter?
New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter was spotted in Austin today, in the company of Minka Kelly, who is in FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. The pair, who are rumored to be dating, were at the Starbucks on South Congress, sitting quietly at the bar that overlooks the street.

Alma Awards recognize UGLY BETTY
The Alma Awards' special achievement prize to ABC's UGLY BETTY is something of a kudocast no-brainer. It's a nod that auds, if not the 2-year-old show itself, have been awaiting for some time, given the dearth of positive Latino role models and storylines on current network TV.
KOMO cancels NORTHWEST AFTERNOON after 24-year-run
For those who have missed the news, KOMO in Seattle has canceled NORTHWEST AFTERNOON, the locally produced talk and entertainment show that has been on the air for nearly 24 years.
The station said on-air personalities will remain with the station "and be integrated into news and other programming." NORTHWEST AFTERNOON is co-hosted by Natasha Curry, Cindi Rinehart and Kent Phillips. It offers the same sort of fare as nationally syndicated daytime programming -- touring authors, visiting celebrities, consumer advice, etc. -- with the added fillip of Rinehart's soap opera updates.
Ironically, the only show with a regular soap segment is being replaced by a show called THE DOCTORS at the end of August. No, not our beloved canceled soap, but a show produced by Dr. Phil.
Jennifer Rhodes to Appear on Y&R
Rhodes will be making her debut on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS as she takes part of Jana (Emily O'Brien) and Kevin's (Greg Rikaart) wedding party, which will take place in Malibu.
