Evening News

BLOG UPDATE: Cady McClain
"I have heard of a lot of rumors, too, BTW, but I am sorry to have to inform you that I have absolutely nothing to tell you! It is lovely to be considered for any part, of course. I agree Martha Byrne is a lovely actress. She is a joy to know and work with and any show would be lucky to have her. I am thrilled for Beth Elhers and am sure she is going to be having a blast at AMC, especially with her previous acting partner Ricky. He is a doll and a real talent and I think they will be very entertaining to watch.

I know it is odd when actors switch shows, but from my own experience, it can be a good stretch for the actor to play a new part, and ultimately good for the show. I think its important to support ALL daytime dramas as much as you can, if indeed you are a fan (and can find the time!), because they are a classic form of entertainment and it would be a shame to lose any of them.

Daytime has been very good to me, and I am and will always be grateful for all the work and opportunities I have been given. Mostly I thank YOU GUYS for your calls and emails and letters of support. I do enjoy working, and YOU keep me in the game. SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH!"

CUT: Two players go recurring on FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
Two of the show's MVPs, Gaius Charles (Smash) and Scott Porter (Jason), have been taken off contract and will only appear on a recurring basis in Season 3.

In a just-released statement, exec producer Jason Katims says, "Pete Berg, myself and our fellow producers have enormous respect for Scott and Gaius both as actors and individuals. In short, we love them. However, both of their characters have now graduated and in the creative spirit of the show, we have decided to give them powerful four episode arcs that will observe their characters as they launch themselves into the next phase of their lives. We certainly will keep the door open for both actors to return in the future, depending on the actors' availabilities. We know both Scott and Gaius will go on to have enormous success and we wish the best for both of them."

Deep Soap: I’ll Be The Judge of That
Sara A. Bibel blogs: "You loved him. You lusted after him. You contemplated writing fan-fic about him. Now you just want him to get the hell off your TV screen. Viewers’ relationships with soap opera characters can go through as many ups and downs as on-screen romances. The characters I’ve gone from loving to hating include some heavy hitters -- GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and ALL MY CHILDREN’s Greenlee Smythe (Rebecca Budig)."
