News Brief

Paris' mom Kathy Hilton to guest on Y&R
Kathy Hilton will play herself on the May 13 episode of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. She finds a magazine cover model for her friend Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), but takes over the photo shoot, infuriating magazine staffers, in the episode taped Wednesday.

EASTENDERS: Heather or Hazel? Minty decides...
Minty's got his hands full with Heather and Hazel, but who will he choose? Actor Cliff Parisi talks us through his difficult dilemma: "The whole thing's a real mess and has brought Minty no end of headaches. Ever since Hazel left him he's been going along with a fake wedding to a woman he doesn't love for what – a couple of grand? Basically he's been bamboozled into the whole thing. He should have been stronger and backed out earlier."

The NEW SOAPnet.com

On this day in 1985
Many fans of DAYS OF OUR LIVES lined up in Hollywood, CA in hopes of getting the hottest tickets in town -- for the wedding of Bo and Hope on the popular soap. It was the first soap wedding open to fans.

The retro DAYS OF OUR LIVES
Allison Waldman writes: "Right now I'm beginning to see a pattern on DAYS OF OUR LIVES that's kind of upsetting. The show seems to be stuck in retro mode. They've been bringing back characters by the boat load. This is nothing new. All soaps do it. On ALL MY CHILDREN, they just brought Cady McLain back -- and her character Dixie, who's supposedly dead. ONE LIFE TO LIVE is resurrecting greatest Tina of all, Andrea Evans. So what's the big deal with what Days doing it? Nothing. It's perfectly legitimate. I support it...to a point. When it reaches a point to where new characters are not taking hold and more and more of the past is becoming the present."

Bruce Gersh joins WMA
Former Disney/ABC business development executive Bruce Gersh has joined WMA, where he will focus on the development of intellectual property on behalf of the agency's clients. Gersh has been named senior vp strategy and operations, IP, at WMA, which he joins after creating and overseeing the business development group for ABC Entertainment and ABC Studios for the past eight years. As senior vp business development, Gersh was involved in pioneering several business development initiatives for such programs as DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and GREY'S ANATOMY across digital and traditional arenas.

One initiative Gersh oversaw was a fragrance tie-in for ALL MY CHILDREN. A storyline featured the characters working on a fragrance, dubbed Enchantment, which became available at Wal-Mart stores the same day it launched in the show. Two more fragrances have followed: Fusion and Charm, the latter of which launched Monday at Sears.
