News Brief

Husker Extra: Scott Porter takes break from "Friday Night Lights" to watch Nebraska game.

Detroit Free Press: Actress Jana Kramer, age 23 and a 2002 graduate of Rochester Adams High School, just finished work on the movies "Spring Breakdown" and "Prom Night" and will guest on NBC's "Friday Night Lights" in an episode tentatively scheduled for Nov. 9. She'll play Noelle Davenport, a high school junior with a crush on star running back Brian (Smash) Williams. Their interracial love affair shakes up their Texas town.

NY Daily News: On "As the World Turns," Paul and Meg's plans to reunite hit a snag tomorrow when she learns she's pregnant - and her husband, Craig, does, too. "She throws the pregnancy test in the trash and Craig finds it," says Marie Wilson, who plays the not-so-happily-married Meg. "She didn't think he'd go in the trash looking for it, so she's thrown off by him knowing."

NWI Times: There's a new character entering the fictional town of Salem on television's "Days of Our Lives." His name is Justin -- a hotshot young forensics analyst assisting "Days" heroic cop Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) -- with a crime scene. Probably more excited to be in Salem than Justin is the actor portraying him -- former Lowell resident Darren Zancan. "You gotta be out of your mind." Those were the first words out of Zancan's mouth when "Days" casting director Marnie Saitta called him with the news in his Los Angeles hotel room.

Lexington Herald-Leader: At a "Paula's Party" taping, "One Life to Live" hunk Kamar de los Reyes from One Life to Live appeared. Kamar and Paula set about their business -- he of deep-frying plantains, she of concocting a spicy shrimp creole to go with them. While the rest of the audience is committing the shrimp creole recipe to memory, I'm still trying to figure out where I can buy Daisy's black dress.

Sunday Mirror: Friday night and new chat show star Katie Price is off to a brilliant start. Interviewing her first guest Jack P Shepherd, the glamour girl formerly known as Jordan swiftly establishes that she's an absolute natural. Helpfully reminding us that Jack plays "Coronation Street" psycho kid David Platt, Mr Andre inquires: "Do people confuse you with your character?" The long-suffering soap star sighs: "Well, yeah, because I look like him."
