Genie Francis Returning to 'General Hospital'

Daytime Emmy Award-winning actress Genie Francis will return to ABC's General Hospital as beloved character Laura Spencer, it was announced Wednesday by executive producer Frank Valentini.

“Genie is a part of our GH family and the door has always been open for her to return when the timing and story are right,” said Valentini. “Lucky for us, the stars have aligned and we are thrilled to welcome Genie back home.”

Francis received a Daytime Emmy Award in 2007 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for the role of GH's Laura.

Valentini did not say how many episodes Francis will appear in.

General Hospital, which celebrated its 52nd anniversary on April 1, 2015, is the longest running American soap opera currently in production and the longest running scripted drama on television currently in production.

Francis reunited with longtime GH co-star Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer) at Sunday's Daytime Emmy Awards. Watch their reunion below:
