Guy Wilson Cast As DAYS OF OUR LIVES' New Will Horton

Guy Wilson at The Wheeler Boys premiere in 2010.
In a new radio interview on Wednesday, DAYS OF OUR LIVES star Jen Lilley (Theresa) revealed that the new Will Horton has been cast on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. On "Lather Up with Littany," Lilley announced that actor Guy Wilson has joined the soap. DAYS had to recast the role when Chandler Massey decided to depart the series.

While talking about playing a recast on a soap (Lilley played Maxie on GENERAL HOSPITAL for a year), Lilley said, "I'm very worried for Guy Wilson, who is replacing Chandler.  It's really hard to be a recast.  I completely understand from the audience's point of view why it's hard."

Wilson hinted at the news on his Facebook page on Tuesday when he wrote, "some exciting news... can't talk about it just yet... but stay tuned..."

Guy Wilson appeared on NCIS in 2011.
Back in 2006, Wilson played "Teen Luke" on GENERAL HOSPITAL. His other credits include appearances in CASTLE, MAJOR CRIMES and BREAKING BAD.

In 2011 he played an openly gay teen Navy recruit Paul Simmons on NCIS. He discussed the role in a Suite101 interview.

"That role on NCIS for so many reasons was the most important work I've done to date," Wilson said. "And not just because of the size of the role or the amount of time I had on screen. But just because of the important nature of the debate."

"When you can do what you love in a forum that also addresses social issues, that is truly what it's all about. To have an opportunity to play I believe one of the first openly gay characters on the show, and to do it with such a strong surrounding cast, it was truly a blessing."

Wilson's film credits include Sighting, The Midnight Game, Almost Kings and The Open Door.

Massey will continue airing as Will on DAYS until the end of the year.

DAYS has not officially announced the casting of Wilson but expect that soon.

UPDATE:
Guy Wilson will make his DAYS OF OUR LIVES debut as Will Horton on January 8, 2014.

  2. Much as I like Chandler Massey as Will, leaving was his career choice and I'm pleased Guy Wilson, who's a terrific actor, has been cast as the "new" Will. Let's support him!

  3. No I'm sorry I can't see anyone else as Will. Good luck to Guy but I won't be watching. As much as I love Freddie I just can't see it working.

  4. No problem with the recast. I love Will and Sonny together and if Chandler is no more interested in them, well good luck to him but good luck to the new Will as well.

    1. So sad that a fan of the show would choose to stop watching because of one re-cast. Imagine if we all thought that way, DAYS would have been long cancelled by now.

  6. I'm just glad they are keeping Will around, as Sonny and Will comprise my favorite soap couple!

  7. Chandler and Freddie are Will and Sonny to me it will take some getting use to and we will have to see if he has chem with Freddie also.

  8. Before Chandler Massey, Will was played by Taylor and Shawn Carpenter, Darian Weiss, Christopher Gerse and Dylan Patton respectively. Will is a fictional character and soaps have been re-casting since the days of radio. It's a fact of life.

  9. Well, he definitely has the right last name! I remember him from NCIS, and think he will be great. Of course I'll miss Chandler, though.

  10. I support the Will and Sonny storyline so I am glad DOOL went ahead with the recast. It was Chandler's wish to leave to earn his college degree and pursue other opportunities so more power to him. I hope Mr. Wilson has as much success as Chandler did as Will. I just hope the fans will be patient and not be so critical. As long as he and Freddie work as a team and the writers provide good story for them it will all work out.

    1. I happy that there is a re cast because Chandler looks nice even playing mad there need someone that can play both good and bad because on a soap everyone gets anger sometimes and he has too much of a baby face and makes him seem like he's whinning when he's mad

  12. I hate Chandler leaving/left but I guess i will support the new Will I just hope he can pull off the chemistry with Deidre just like Chandler did on screen hope Freddie likes him too!!
-& that would suck just to lose fans over a recast if thats the case i wouldnt watch it because of that weird recast of Roman Brady since 97! BLAH I miss Wayne Northrup lol

  13. I'm glad to hear Guy was cast as Will. He really looks a lot like AS(Sami). And while Chandler did a good job in the role, he also brought some mannerisms to the role that I was never fond of. I also think that the chemistry between Freddie and Chandler has been overblown a bit by WilSon fans. To me their chemistry has been lacking, especially as of late. I think the role of Will needs some added maturity that an actor like Guy will bring an I'm looking forward to seeing his take on Will Horton.

  14. I just got the news that chandler is leaving days I've watched him grow into a fine young man. He will always be Will Horton (Sami's lil boy Will), its gonna have to get some use to but if we love our soaps then we will make it work. Good luck Chandler Massey we'll miss you

  15. I have no issues with the recast. In fact I've felt in the past year that Chandler didn't have his heart in the role, unlike Freddie who makes every moment between them seem believable. Looking forward to the new Will actor.

  16. Recasts are always a little awkward at first, but Chandler wanted to go back to school. I wonder what love triangle Will is going to be in? Is it going to be with a girl or boy? It's going to be interesting. I think the new Will, will work out. He is a good actor.
