ABC Renews SCANDAL, PRIVATE PRACTICE; Picks Up NASHVILLE, 666 PARK AVE; Cancels GCB

ABC has given the green light to a second season of SCANDAL.

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes confirmed the news on Twitter just moments ago. “Am super proud to say that SCANDAL has been picked for a 2nd season!!! Am doing a little dance of joy.”

SCANDAL stars Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope, Henry Ian Cusick (LOST) as Stephen Finch, Columbus Short as Harrison Wright, Guillermo Diaz as Huck, Darby Stanchfield as Abby Whelan, Katie Lowes as Quinn Perkins, Tony Goldwyn as President Fitzgerald Grant, and Jeff Perry as Cyrus Beene.

Rhimes later tweeted about the renewal for PRIVATE PRACTICE saying, "PP is picked up for next season! The dance of joy in our offices is EPIC!"

Dana Delany's BODY OF PROOF was renewed as well.

Meanwhile, ABC has picked up musical soap NASHVILLE (the pilot starred Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere, Eric Close, Jonathan Jackson), along with dramas MISTRESSES (based on the BBC show), 666 PARK AVE, LAST RESORT, ZERO HOUR and RED WIDOW.

It looks like DEVIOUS MAIDS, which featured Susan Lucci in its pilot cast, did not get picked up.

GCB, MISSING, THE RIVER and PAN AM have been canceled.

REVENGE, ONCE UPON A TIME and GREY'S ANATOMY were previously renewed.
