Emmy-winning actress Genie Francis will be featured as a Special Guest Star during the upcoming third season of the hit comedy web series PRETTY. PRETTY The Series creator Steve Silverman is not saying what role Francis will be playing, but will say she will be featured in several episodes and is playing a major new character.
Francis, best known as Laura from GENERAL HOSPITAL, is currently playing Genevieve on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. Her other soap roles include Ceara on ALL MY CHILDREN and Diana on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. She has also appeared in a number of primetime series and films including the hugely successful Taking a Chance on Love on Hallmark in 2009.
Silverman hints there will be a scene, or two or three, between Francis' PRETTY character and Denise Alexander, which would be a huge treat for fans who loved them as mother and daughter on GENERAL HOSPITAL. In our recent interview, last season's PRETTY guest star Joan Van Ark called Silverman a "Junior Ryan Murphy" (Murphy is the brilliant mind behind NIP/TUCK and GLEE).
PRETTY won for Best Ensemble at the 2nd Annual Indie Soap Awards in February and the cast continues to get better.
Francis will join other big name guest stars including Martha Byrne (GOTHAM producer/star ; ex-Lily/Rose, AS THE WORLD TURNS), Anthony Anderson (ANACOSTIA), Denise Alexander (Lesley, GH), Melanie Hutsell (SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE), Melissa Peterman (REBA) and more.
If you have never watched the show, PRETTY centers around the Champagne family and Proud Pageant Father Michael's desire to see his daughter Annette win a beauty pageant. One twist, young Annette (5 in Season 1 and 6 in Season 2) is played by an adult actress, Stacy McQueen.
