Should U.S. Have Minister Of The Arts?

Per Deadline Hollywood, according to an email making the Hollywood rounds, Quincy Jones has started a petition to ask President-Elect Obama to appoint a Secretary of the Arts. "While many other countries have had Ministers of Art or Culture for centuries, The United States has never created such a position," the email reads. "We in the arts need this and the country needs the arts -- now more than ever. Please take a moment to sign this important petition and then pass it on to your friends and colleagues." The petition is located at: www.petitiononline.com/esnyc/petition.html.

Interestingly enough, the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest asks the question "In honor of the inauguration, what cabinet position would want to fil/create for yourself?"

The fabulous Ilene Kristen actually suggests herself for "a new position called Entertainment Liaison." Maybe she was onto something.

No word on if a petition for "Secretary of Dorks" is being circulated, as suggested by Joshua Morrow.
