1987: Santa Barbara.'s Cruz went to Summerfest with Eden.
1992: GL's Alan-Michael switched out Eleni's birth control pills.
2009: One Life to Live's Nora slapped Tea in court.
2009: General Hospital's carnival began.

On this date in...

1969: On Dark Shadows, Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid) told Magda Rakosi (Grayson Hall) what would happen when he used the rods--his body would remain while his spirit traveled into the future. He told her to go to Collinwood and warn Quentin to leave.

1970: On Another World, Pat and John Randolphs's twins, Michael and Marianne Randolph, were born. Pat had become sterile after a botched abortion in 1967 (the first on TV), but was able to get pregnant five years later thanks to a rewrite of her backstory involving a miracle surgery.

1981: The interlocking rings opening of Another World, which debuted in 1966, aired for the final time.

1981: On Guiding Light, Ben McFarren (Stephen Yates) questioned Ross Marler's (Jerry verDorn) ulterior motives in regards to Ben's wife, Amanda (Kathleen Cullen).

1984: On The Edge of Night, Beth Corell (Sandy Faison) was unhappy to run into her sister, Liz (Marcia Cross).



1985: On Another World, Michoud Christophe (Serge Dupire) caused trouble between Catlin Ewing (Thomas Ian Griffith) and Sally Frame (Taylor Miller), who was caught up in her job as the Le Soleil woman.



1987: On Another World, Dr. Jamie Frame (Laurence Lau) was upset when he had to tell a 25-year-old man and his parents that the man had AIDS. This was Jamie's first AIDS case.

1987: On Santa Barbara, Cruz Castillo (A Martinez) grew closer to Eden Capwell (Marcy Walker) during their date at Summerfest.



1990: On Santa Barbara, Sophia Capwell (Judith McConnell) asked Lionel Lockridge (Nicolas Coster) to keep their one night of lovemaking a secret.

1992: On Guiding Light, Alan-Michael Spaulding (Rick Hearst) swapped out Eleni Andros' (Melina Kanakaredes) birth control pills with placebos.



1998: German teen soap opera Schloss Einstein premiered.

1998: On As the World Turns, David Allen (Daniel Markel) used Julia Lindsey (Annie Parisse), and a gun, to get to Lily Snyder (Martha Byrne).



2004: Actor Michael Louden, best known for playing Duke Kramer on As the World Turns, died at age 40.

2006: German soap opera Alles was zählt (All That Matters) premiered on RTL.

2006: On Passions, after Fox Crame (Mark Cameron Wystrach) was sucked into a black hole, he told Tabitha Lenox (Juliet Mills) it like a black tunnel you would see on the Sci Fi Channel.  Passions repeats aired on the Sci Fi (now Syfy) Channel at the time.  Tabitha then told him stick with NBC.



2009: On One Life to Live, Nora (Hillary B. Smith) slapped Tea (Florencia Lozano) in court.



2009: On General Hospital, Molly Lansing (Haley Pullos) dunked the hunks of Port Charles at the carnival.



2014: Legendary entertainer and soap opera guest star Joan Rivers died at age 81.
