1938: Local New York City radio soap opera Stella Dallas began airing nationwide on NBC Radio.

1938:  Young Widder Brown premiered on NBC Radio. Stella Dallas ad Young Widder Brown became key components of the network's afternoon lineup.

1944: On the first day of the Invasion of Normandy (D-Day), the CBS Radio lineup of soap operas kept listeners updated on what happened.

1966: Art Wallace completed the final draft of the first episode script for Dark Shadows.

1974: Wesley Eure debuted as Mike Horton on Days of our Lives. Three months later he debuted on another series, Land of the Lost.

1979: On Ryan's Hope, when Faith tells her that she has to move out, Poppy (Alexandra Neil) is further delighted when Tom offers her his old apartment - to Faith's dismay.

1984: On Days of our Lives, Hope Williams (Kristian Alfonso) returned to Larry Welch after thugs threatened the life of her true love, Bo Brady.

1984: On The Edge of Night, when he couldn't get any answers from Mike Karr (Forrest Compton), Preacher Emerson (Charles Grant, then Charles Flohe) decided to track down Jody Travis on his own.

1988: On Days of our Lives, Alice Horton (Frances Reid) was surprised to find out her husband, Tom (Macdonald Carey), was a poet.

1988: On Another World, Amanda Cory Fowler (Sandra Robinson) gave birth to a baby girl, who Sam (Robert Kelker Kelly) wanted to name Alexandra Cory Fowler.

1992: Knots Landing actor Larry Riley died at age 39.

1996: On All My Children, Jonathan (Michael Sabatino) was desperate to gain access to Janet's safe deposit box.

2000: On The Young and the Restless, Diane (Alex Donnelley) told Victor (Eric Braeden) she was pregnant.

2002: Aiden Turner debuted on All My Children in the role of Aidan Devane.

2002: On Guiding Light, Reva Shayne (Kim Zimmer) serenaded Josh Lewis (Robert Newman) on the night before their wedding with "When I Fall In Love."

2005: Former Guiding Light and Dark Shadows actor Dana Elcar died at age 77.

2013: On One Life to Live, Dani Manning (Kelley Missal) was thrilled to meet Snoop Dogg.
