NEWS: William Roache Trial, Ignacio Serricchio to BONES, GLEE to New York, McKenzie Westmore Engaged

CORONATION STREET's William Roache on trial not Ken Barlow, jury told
A judge has told a panel of potential jurors that the "real person" William Roache is on trial, not his fictional Coronation Street character. Justice Tim Holroyde QC said any views of Ken Barlow must be "put out of your mind" to ensure a "fair and independent judgement" can be reached.

Roache, 81, denies two counts of raping a 15-year-old girl in East Lancashire in 1967. At Preston Crown Court, he also denies five indecent assaults on four girls.

Those alleged offenses relate to girls aged from 11 to 16 in Manchester in the mid to late 1960s.

Justice Holroyde said: "It is a real person, William Roache, who is on trial. You must separate the fictional character from the real person, you will have to decide verdicts from the evidence you will hear from a real person, about a real person."

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS' Ignacio Serricchio coming to BONES
Serricchio (Alex, Y&R) has been cast as the latest in a long line of Brennan's assistants on the series. He will play a forensic anthropologist seeking asylum from Cuba, according to TVLine. Because of his status as an immigrant, the character will need to reassert himself in his field.

GLEE's Packing Up and Moving to New York!
Fox's Programming President Kevin Reilly explained, "Ryan Murphy pitched the arc all the way through next season. What's going to happen this year is the kids will graduate and we're going to go to New York exclusively through the second half of the year, and then he's got some ideas about what we're going to do next year for the final year."

Karine Vanasse Upped To Series Regular On ABC's REVENGE
She plays French heiress Margaux LeMarchal who knew the Graysons growing up and is here to start the American version of Voulez Magazine while also romancing Jack Porter (Nick Wechsler).

People walking to the stage took up 10% of the Golden Globes broadcast
On average, winners took 29 seconds to kiss their significant others, shake hands with their tablemates and navigate the long and winding walk from their seats to the stage. DANCING ON THE EDGE star Jacqueline Bisset took the longest time, at a meandering 66 seconds; Amy Adams did a little American hustle of her own, reaching the stage in a tidy 11 seconds.

CW's THE ORIGINALS mocks PRETTY LITTLE LIARS -- with ABC Family ad urging fans change channel
The promo (exclusive video below) makes pointed references to viewers getting weary of “A.” As PLL fans know, “A” is the signature of the show’s mysterious bully villain and some fans have grown frustrated with all the questions posed season after season by the “A” mystery with few answers. The ad suggests fed-up fans change over to The CW’s THE ORIGINALS for some sultry vampire action instead. It’s a marketing tactic that The CW has never attempted before (in fact, while ads for shows sometimes run on rival programs, we’re not sure we’ve ever heard of one that also suggested fans switch channels).

The CW is placing the ad on the ABC Family drama by circumventing the Disney-owned channel’s advertising department and instead purchasing ad time locally from major cable and satellite providers that transmit the show (both cable networks and their distributors typically have their own commercial slots for sale).

ARCHER Season 5: Kenny Loggins duet, soundtrack, Lana's baby and more
Loggins is guest-starring as himself and will record a duet with "Cherlene," Cheryl/Carol's new country music persona. The duet is Loggins' 1986 hit "Danger Zone," with the video for it premiering during episode 6 on Monday, February 17.

McKenzie Westmore is engaged to Patrick Tatopoulos
Tatopoulos is a guest judge on the reality show FACE OFF, where Westmore serves as the host.

CORONATION STREET gets first Muslim family
The characters will be relatives of Kal Nazir -- a personal trainer played by actor Jimi Mistry -- who joined the show set in Weatherfield, a fictional suburb of Manchester, two months ago.

They will include his two children, his mother and his father, who will be played by Marc Anwar, last seen alongside Tom Hanks in the Hollywood drama Captain Phillips.

"Kal and his son and daughter live with his mum and dad so we're going to bring them on to the Street," producer Stuart Blackburn said.

  2. My mother used to watch AMC and OLTL, and now she's happy with The Chew.

She's not alone. All her friends made the transition, too.

Your soap got cancelled. It will never come back to the network.

    DEAL WITH IT.
