NEWS: Oliver Hudson Joins NASHVILLE; Judi Evans; Cory Monteith Emmy Tribute; Hulu at TCA

Is DAYS OF OUR LIVES star Judi Evans the New Monster Mom of Salem?
"It came out of left field," Evans said, "but stories like this don't happen often so I'm eating it up with a spoon! I love having Adrienne at the center of controversy. Bring it on! But let's make it clear that she's not trying to bust up Will and Sonny because she has a problem with Sonny being gay. She's totally okay with that. She just doesn't want her son anywhere near Will's family. And she sure doesn't want him going to jail for something Will's mom Sami [Alison Sweeney] did. Oh, hell no!"

Oliver Hudson joins NASHVILLE
Hudson will play a charming, audacious, take-no-prisoners businessman who promises to “shake things up in Nashville.”

[SPOILER ALERT]

NASHVILLE's second season, set to premiere on Wednesday, September 25, will jump ahead several months after Rayna and Deacon’s car accident. The near-death experience sends Rayna’s album sales soaring, making her the apple in the eye of her label’s new top exec (Hudson).

Competition to lay the last cobble on new Coronation Street
The Manchester Evening News has teamed up with ITV to offer one lucky reader a money-can't-buy prize. CORONATION STREET is on the move to join their ITV colleagues already at MediaCityUK. The set is heading towards completion but there is one important thing missing…the final cobble on the main street and that’s where this amazing prize comes in.

Emmy Exec Producer Acknowledges Pressure For Big Tribute To GLEE's Cory Monteith
“Something that reflects an homage” to late Glee star Cory Monteith is in the works for the September Emmy ceremony, but “what the extent of that is, or how we’re going to approach it… well, it’s too early to tell, Emmy Awards executive producer Ken Ehrlich told Deadline on Monday.

He added that an homage to Monteith involving music that’s done separately from the annual “In Memorium” honor roll of those who have passed away is indeed under consideration.

GLEE's Season 5 Start Date Confirmed After Lea Michele’s First Outing
The cast of GLEE will finally return to work on Monday, August 5, original cast member Naya Rivera revealed on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE on July 30. Following Cory Monteith’s sad and sudden death on July 13, returning to work will likely be bittersweet for Lea Michele, Cory’s co-star and off-screen girlfriend. On one hand, reminders of Cory will be unavoidable on set, but Lea will also be surrounded by loving friends and colleagues, who loved Cory as well.

Hulu's Arrival at TCA: Another Reminder That Times Are Changing
Just wait until using Netlfix and Hulu and Amazon become second nature to those same people. And I mean people who right this minute don't pay for Netflix, haven't even set up their free Hulu account, have no idea that already paying for Amazon Prime shipping allows them access to free TV and movie streaming options and who are, just now, bookmarking a page that explains the arrival of Chromecast.

When they convert? That's when the television of tomorrow arrives -- and the paradigm shift we've been talking about for ages finally happens.

  1. Big tribute to Cory Monteith? WTF? He was a druggy and people want a tribute to him?

  2. Judi has been ON FIRE the past month - hopefully the powers that be at DAYS are taking note and plan on utilizing her talents like this more often. It was so sad seeing her wasted for months, but I guess being on "the back burner" at least kept her active in Salem. Ms. Evans is back!

  3. As for the Monteith tribute - I'm not a GLEE fan - and I probably wouldn't even know him if I ran into him on the street - so I'm just speaking as an Emmy viewer when I say that I think there are probably more talented and deserving people who died in the past year who deserve a "special tribute". Let GLEE or Fox do whatever kind of tribute they want - but the Emmys is not the proper place for this.

  4. I love GLEE and Cory but I think this discussions is because things are so fresh. A number of legendary actors passed away this year (like Larry Hagman) who would deserve something like this more, although I think it's unfair to single anyone out. Now if this turns out to be a song and dance from the cast of GLEE as part of the show, and they say it's in Cory's memory I would be more okay with it.
