CBS was trying to counter-program the Olympics on ABC by airing these episodes which also featured Phyllis Diller as Marcy's Fairy Godmother.
"It's definitely an opportunity to keep our viewers loyal while enticing new audiences," CBS director of daytime programming Laurence Caso said at the time.

I saw this on YT just late last year in a frenzy of nostalgia for ATWT. I don't much remember the original episode as I was a young child but strangely I still remember the melody of that song. Don't ask me why. I think I will revisit the clip a bit later. Right now, I a bit shocked and barely able to sit long enough to watch. All my memories of that first album are flooding back.
ReplyDeleteBoth those songs were themes for ATWT couples, Steve & Betsy, and Tom & Margo. "If You Say My Eyes Are Beautiful" was Cass & Kathleen's song on ANOTHER WORLD too. Both were used on multiple shows including primetime.
ReplyDeleteI remember them on ATWT, pre-Whitney success and loved the songs. I loved, loved Marcy, more then Besty actually at the time. I was HUGE fan of Marcy & Kurt! To this day even though CLB has played Michael longer I still think of him as Kurt. When PD was good fairy, it was hilarious episode...HMMMM...good episode of for online Roger.
ReplyDeleteThanks for these ATWT video clips with Marisa, Phyllis, Jermaine & Whitney, Roger. I Love These Clips Totally!
ReplyDeleteRest In Peace, Dear Whitney!
Brian :-)
R.I.P. WHITNEY HOUSTON!
