Jori Petersen has been named vice president, ABC Family Communications, Disney/ABC Television Group (DATG), it was announced today by Kevin Brockman, executive vice president, Global Communications, DATG, to whom she will report.
Working closely with Michael Riley, president, ABC Family, Ms. Petersen will be responsible for all communication efforts for ABC Family, including corporate, consumer, marketing and affiliate-related publicity. She will also oversee all talent relations efforts for the division.
In making the announcement, Mr. Brockman said: “Jori is simply one of the best communications executives I’ve ever met. Her keen insight, creativity and pure joy of the craft make her the ideal person to shepherd ABC Family’s growing brand.”
Michael Riley added: “Jori is a strategic communications executive with the proven ability to reach a female audience. Her years spent at the helm of SOAPnet and ABC Daytime communications have given her a unique breadth of experience targeting ABC Family’s core viewers.”
Ms. Petersen joins ABC Family Communications from ABC Daytime and SOAPnet, where she helped oversee all media relations efforts for ABC Daytime, SOAPnet and ABC Media Productions, including corporate, programming, marketing and affiliate-related publicity, since 2008.
Previously Ms. Petersen served as vice president, Media Relations, SOAPnet. She joined The Walt Disney Company as manager, Media Relations, Disney Channel in February 1998, after over three years as account executive with Bragman, Nyman, Cafarelli.
Ms. Petersen is a graduate of the University of Southern California and holds a BA in Public Relations.
It's either a case of promoting incompetence or promoting someone who accomplished her task.
