News Round-up: Bjorlin, Otalia Pop Watch, Turner, Locklear

Nadia Bjorlin's bad weekend: car wreck, messed up lyrics
DAYS OF OUR LIVES actress Nadia Bjorlin had a rough time of it in Boston over the weekend. The Newport, R.I., native, who was in town with some costars for a Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation fund-raiser, told the Boston Globe yesterday that her visit to the Hub started with a car accident that almost caused her some serious harm. “We went flying,’’ she said, adding that had it not been for a castmate who held her back, she might have been window-bound. For the record, Bjorlin was not driving (the cast was driven around in a town car).

The accident happened on Bjorlin’s way to Fenway Park, where she had been booked Friday to sing the national anthem before the Red Sox-Yankees game. Shortly after she started the song, Bjorlin messed up the lyrics, causing some fans to boo. She blames the sound delay. “I made the mistake of listening to myself. Then my mind went blank,’’ she said. In the end, Bjorlin recovered the performance and fans cheered her on as she finished “The Star-Spangled Banner.’’ Bjorlin said her hosts in Boston asked her to return again. "I said, ‘for a re-do?’"

Kerrie Mitchell passes along the VENICE news that "Otalia" will be kissing early in the series and gives a shout out to fans as well: "When I was coordinating the Must List, there would be an almost weekly deluge of suggestions for 'Otalia' for the Reader’s Choice. Never heard of them? Then obviously you aren’t a GUIDING LIGHT fan."

The series is up more than 30 percent vs. its performance just a month ago, when the July 12 episode averaged 3.9 million viewers.

VIDEO: MELROSE PLACE Stars Talk Heather Locklear's Potential Return
Katie Cassidy, who stars as Ella Sims, the newest blonde cutthroat female on the show, said she would welcome Heather to the set with open arms.

“I think it’s great. Heather Locklear is amazing and we would be more than thrilled – Heather — if you came on our show,” Katie, the daughter of David Cassidy, said.

“No one is Heather,” Daphne Zuniga said. “Nobody. The new [bitch on the show], I think her name is Ella, she’s lovely, she’s great as being a bitch, but nobody is Heather Locklear as far as that goes.”
