Lane Davies was Mason Capwell on SANTA BARBARA. Terry Lester and Gordon Thompson also played the role, but didn't come close to capturing who Mason really was. His scenes with Harley Jane Kozak and Nancy Lee Grahn were captivating. In the scene below, Mr Davies airs as Mason Capwell for the last time. Enjoy!
Mikey, didn't Santa Barbara literally have Mason walk through a door portrayed by Terry Lester and then come out the other side portrayed by Gordon Thompson or vice versa? I thought that was clever and something never done before, at least to my recollection. Correct me if I'm wrong.

ReplyDeleteAt that point, I don't believe it had ever been done before. Since then, they tried something like that when Mark Valley turned into Steve Wilder on DAYS as Jack and Alexa Havins turned into Amanda Baker on All My Children as Babe. I think it worked best on Santa Barbara :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, you guys are going to have to help me, because its driving me crazy. I thought it was the Mason recast with Terry and Gordon that had the character walk through a door as one actor and appear on the other side as the other. But I found the clip on YouTube and Timothy Gibbs' character punched Mason, Terry Lester went down, Gordon Thompson got up. Now I can't remember what soap/character handled the recast with one actor walking through a door and the other actor coming out the other side. If its Mark Valley/Steve Wilder with the Jack recast on DAYS, I couldn't find any mention of it on Google or a clip on YouTube.
