Sara A. Bibel blogs: "Maybe it’s summer escapism. Maybe it’s an attempt to lure former PASSIONS viewers. Maybe a bunch of daytime writers attended a John Waters film festival. Whatever the cause, daytime has suddenly gone campy."

Homeless man watches Y&R on battery-operated radio
Lee-Lee is a good American. He's a proud father of four who loves his country, NASCAR and living in the woods. And, because he's a prideful man who doesn't accept handouts, he'll also tell you he's happy to be living on "Hobo Lane" as a member of the county's homeless community. "Home" is a wooden shelter and tent in a forested area off of Jefferson Davis Highway.

Friends from a local church built him a shelter out of wood planks, separated into two rooms, which now serve as his kitchen and living room. Beside the structure is a camping tent that houses his bedroom, featuring a queen-size box spring and mattress set, nightstands with photos of the American flag and his battery-operated television. He can only pick up one channel on his television, adding that his favorite show is THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, which he tries to watch as often as he can.

Former NEIGHBOUR rumoured in movie
NEIGHBOURS veteran Jesse Spencer is rumoured to be considering a part in 2009 movie The Storyteller. The plot for the fantasy drama is being kept under wraps, but if Spencer does sign up, he'll be acting alongside Ghost Rider star Wes Bentley and Journey to the Centre of the Earth actress Anita Briem. The Australian actor made his name as Billy Kennedy in the hit Australian soap back in 1994. America Olivo, who appeared as Marianna on a few episodes of GENERAL HOSPITAL this year, will also star in the film.

CBS Paramount’s Stapf Cautiously Ecstatic About ‘90210’ Debut
Among the many folks doing cartwheels over the strong debut numbers for 90210: David Stapf, president of CBS Paramount Network Television. Mr. Stapf, along with CW Entertainment President Dawn Ostroff, was one of the driving forces behind the Zip revival. What’s more, 90210 is CBS Paramount’s single biggest new show of the fall. The executive conceded that he and his staff “were petrified” about the ratings prior to this morning—and, not surprisingly, he said he’s “thrilled” with the early Nielsen data for the show.

GOSSIP GIRL vs. 90210
Newsdays's Anne Machalinski explains why GOSSIP is much better. But Time Out Chicago's Julia Kramer disagrees.
