The 50 Greatest TV Icons

TV Land network and Entertainment Weekly magazine have compiled a list of "The 50 Greatest TV Icons."

It's the source of a two-hour TV Land special airing Friday. The special counts down from 50 to 1 with mini-profiles of each "icon" in turn.

Here is a list of the soap stars who made the list.

50. Larry Hagman (ex-Curt, "Search For Tomorrow" and ex-J.R., "Dallas")

49. Calista Flockhart (ex-Elise, "Guiding Light")

45. Sarah Michelle Gellar (ex-Kendall, "All My Children")

44. Susan Lucci (Erica, "All My Children")

40. Sally Field (Nora, "Brothers & Sisters")

36. Diahann Carroll (ex-Dominique, "Dynasty")

32. Henry Winkler (played an Intern on "Another World")

27. Regis Philbin (ex-Malachy, "Ryan's Hope")

25. Heather Locklear (ex-Sammy Jo, "Dynasty" and ex-Amanda, "Melrose Place")

22. Milton Berle (ex-Mickey, "General Hospital")

17. Bob Newhart (ex-Morty, "Desperate Housewives")

11. Roseanne (had "One Life to Live" stars appear on her sitcom)

6. Carol Burnett (ex-Mrs. Johnson, "All My Children")

The special, which airs this Friday, November 16 at 8pm ET/PT (and is also featured in the issue of Entertainment Weekly appearing on newsstands the same day), has some cool online components on TVLand.com. Fans can get a sneak peek of some of the clips and play the "Icon Challenge" game to create their own list of the 50 greatest, share it with friends, and see how other fans have ranked the top 50.
