'Project Dad' Premieres January 5 on TLC

Soap alum Daniel Cosgrove (left) stars in Project Dad.
Project Dad, a Chicken Soup for the Soul original series, follows three celebrity dads as they step out of the spotlight and into the role of “mom.” The show premieres January 5 at 5 p.m. ET on TLC.

Project Dad follows Donnell Rawlings (comedian, Chappelle’s Show), Daniel Cosgrove (actor, Days of our Lives, All My Children, Guiding Light, As the World Turns), and DJ Skribble (world-ranked disc jockey, MTV’s TRL) as they’re left alone with their kids while their partners leave home for days. The series turns the camera on these three busy celebrity dads struggle to balance caring for a home, parenting and pursuing a full-time career — on their own.

Project Dad will have viewers laughing, crying and relishing in the real life moments these dads have with their children,” said William J. Rouhana, Jr., executive chairman of Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment. “The show adds to our library of inspirational and entertaining content, and we expect the show to resonate with all audiences. This is our second television series to air on a cable network in just two years, and we expect more to follow.”

Project Dad is based on the hit international series Return of Superman that was originally broadcast and owned by Korean Broadcasting System. The hit series in South Korea has won more than 13 awards. Derek Britt and Ricky Paull Goldin (All My Children, Guiding Light) of DB Goldline, William J. Rouhana, Jr. of Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, and EunHui Jong of Critical Density Media, LLC are the series Executive Producers. Populus Brands manages the network agreement with Discovery Communications and oversees partnerships, media sponsorships, and trade out sales for the series.

NEWS: Hulu Accepting Final Bids; Robert Newman Explores Dark Side; MAD MEN The Soap; OWN-ing Up

Hulu Deadline for Final Bids Arrives: Keep an Eye on DirecTV
Hulu and its corporate parents are accepting final bids for the online video service on Friday, and according to several individuals close to the process the field has whittled down to three companies: Guggenheim Digital Media, Chernin Entertainment/AT&T and DirecTV.

But keep your eye on DirecTV.

Here's why: Chernin is bidding with AT&T, but the telecom giant is driving that bid, according to one knowledgeable individual. Hulu management is apparently wary of being owned by AT&T.

World AIDS Day Tribute: Bill Beyers (1955-1992) & Leslie Graves (1959-1995) -- 'Capitol'

On World AIDS Day we pay tribute to some of the actors from the soap opera community who lost their lives to the disease.

Bill Beyers was born on Long Island on March 17, 1955. He died of complications due to AIDS on May 29, 1992 in Los Angeles at age 37.

Beyers burst onto the soap scene in 1982 on brand new CBS soap Capitol. He played Wally McCandless, who had an an affinity for gambling. His addiction often got him into trouble: either the physical kind (from grumpy loan sharks) or the emotional kind (from grumpy girlfriends).

Wally's life was further complicated by the attentions of Brenda Clegg (originally played by actress Leslie Graves), who spent three years trying to snare him, only to jilt him for another guy.
