ABC Family to Launch 'Mystery Girls,' Starring Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth, on June 25; '90210' Co-Star Joe E. Tata Will Appear in Series

Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth reunite in ABC Family's new comedy Mystery Girls, premiering on Wednesday, June 25th at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT.

On Tuesday, Spelling tweeted the news that their former Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star, Joe E. Tata, would appear in the series.



Mystery Girls follows Charlie Contour (Garth), a suburban housewife and mother, and Holly Hamilton (Spelling), who longs for her glory days in the 90's when she was on television starring with Charlie as the "Mystery Girls." Both of their lives are disrupted when Nick (Miguel Pinzon), a witness to a crime and a "Mystery Girls" fanatic, will only speak to the infamous duo, and the former friends must reunite and put their TV crime-solving skills to the test.

ABC Family Announces Summer 2014 Schedule, Including CHASING LIFE, PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, THE FOSTERS, SWITCHED AT BIRTH

ABC Family announces the summer premieres of three highly-anticipated new original series, including the drama CHASING LIFE and comedies YOUNG & HUNGRY, starring Emily Osment, and MYSTERY GIRLS, starring and executive produced by Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth. Fan favorites PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, SWITCHED AT BIRTH and THE FOSTERS also return in June with brand-new episodes.

CHASING LIFE premieres Tuesday, June 10th, at 9:00 - 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. The new one-hour drama follows April (Italia Ricci), a smart, twenty-something, aspiring journalist who tries to balance her ambitious career with her family, which includes her widowed mom, Sara (Mary Page Keller), rebellious little sister, Brenna (Haley Ramm), and her grandmother, Emma (Rebecca Schull). We meet April at a pivotal moment in her life: she's landed a fantastic opportunity to impress her hard-nosed Boston newspaper editor and an office romance with her super-sexy co-worker Dominic (Richard Brancatisano) is just beginning to blossom. In an unexpected twist of fate, April lands in the hospital where her estranged uncle George (Steven Weber) works as an oncologist, and she learns the devastating news that she has cancer. The series follows April through her journey in the face of this daunting revelation, during a time in her life when the challenges of finding love and success would be enough to keep any girl occupied. But April is determined to fight and refuses to give up her dreams and goals. Along the way, she'll find new reserves of strength and passion within and discover that facing death may really be the only way to truly live.

ABC Family Announces Two New Series: MYSTERY GIRLS and YOUNG & HUNGRY

BEVERLY HILLS, 90210 stars Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth
reunite in MYSTERY GIRLS for ABC Family.
ABC Family announced today the pick-up of two half-hour comedy series MYSTERY GIRLS, starring and executive produced by Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth, and YOUNG & HUNGRY, starring Emily Osment, from executive producer Ashley Tisdale. Production will commence on both series in Los Angeles in early 2014, and both will premiere in 2014.

ABC Family President, Tom Ascheim said, “It’s great to start the new year and my tenure at ABC Family with the pickup of these two funny original series. ABC Family's comedy lineup continues to resonate with our audience and I’m thrilled to boost that momentum by adding MYSTERY GIRLS and YOUNG & HUNGRY, which are sure to become fan favorites.”

Jennie Garth Joins Tori Spelling in ABC Family's MYSTERY GIRLS Pilot as Star and Executive Producer

ABC Family has cast Jennie Garth to join former BEVERLY HILLS 90210 co-star Tori Spelling in the network’s comedy pilot, MYSTERY GIRLS. Both Spelling and Garth will also serve as executive producers. The casting marks a reunion of the two from their days on the hit series.

MYSTERY GIRLS, starring Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth, follows a former starlet who is roped into solving crimes with her former mystery TV show co-star when a witness to a crime will only speak to the Infamous ‘Mystery Girls,’ which was the highest rated program of the 90’s. Spelling will play Holly, who is desperate to regain her former fame and plans to resurrect her life by using her acting skills and crime "experience" to open a detective agency. Now she just has to get Charlie (played by Jennie Garth), her former co-star-turned suburban housewife and mother, on board with the plan.

Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth and Maggie Malina (SINGLE LADIES) will serve as executive producers.

The story is by Tori Spelling and Shepard Boucher. The pilot was written by Shepard Boucher. MYSTERY GIRLS is scheduled to shoot in November.
