Most of the reporters I pointed this out to did NOT get it at all. I cannot imagine why the networks would go along with the idea of actually potentially lowering the ratings of their remaining soaps -- unless they want out of the daytime soap biz. I hope this is not the case, but this counter programming really worries me. This programming alternative to soaps is not good news, in my opinion, for soap fans and the remaining 4 soaps. I would hate to see anymore daytime soaps canceled, however, I do watch Aussie and Brit soaps, so I may check out The Archers in addition to my Corrie viewing. I just hate to see anything being done to further damage the remaining soaps. Days is not in a good place right now, and GH is iffy at best.PraiseGodHeCanMoveMountainshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09571746144822907096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2585163331194032530.post-65372576242237631132012-08-02T23:47:15.048-04:002012-08-02T23:47:15.048-04:00I hadn't thought about Kristian and Drake but ...I hadn't thought about Kristian and Drake but you are right, this programming will be on against DAYS in most places.Roger Newcombhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17605713149480918249noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2585163331194032530.post-36079087090676066732012-08-02T20:22:39.590-04:002012-08-02T20:22:39.590-04:00Why would the networks allow their current soap st...Why would the networks allow their current soap stars to appear on a cable network that is trying to lure away their viewers?! Forget everything I posted. None of this news makes a lick of sense. Much more of this and I'll be finding an alternative to the remaining soaps! LOL It seems like these days EVERY road leads to crazy town! All aboard!!!PraiseGodHeCanMoveMountainshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09571746144822907096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2585163331194032530.post-50312931919126803012012-08-02T20:00:00.315-04:002012-08-02T20:00:00.315-04:00I wish Sony and NBC would issue a smackdown to ID/...I wish Sony and NBC would issue a smackdown to ID/Discovery Channel for the obvious ripoff of Days of Our Lives in the ridiculous title. I hate that soap writers are encouraging soap viewers to watch these cheap realty soap replacements, whose side are these writers on? Shouldn't they be championing the remaining soaps instead of encouraging viewers to spend the afternoon on a cable channel watching anything but the soaps?! While I personally don't think soaps are a laughing matter, in my opinion the whole premise seems to be making fun of soaps. But if these soap killers succeed, the TV execs may be laughing but at soap viewers' and the remaining soaps' expense. My OP, but I CANNOT believe some of the crap I read on these (pro?) soap websites!PraiseGodHeCanMoveMountainshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09571746144822907096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2585163331194032530.post-13342306594874417302012-08-02T19:43:45.853-04:002012-08-02T19:43:45.853-04:00Days of Our Knives makes zero sense, it’s a terrib...Days of Our Knives makes zero sense, it’s a terrible title, but the worst thing about this whole announcement is: If this reality TV programming succeeds to garner decent ratings, it could mean bad news for GH and Days. If the networks see that they can produce more cheap reality programming like this to replace the remaining soaps, what do viewers expect? These shows aren’t that much different than The Chew or The Talk, cheap to produce and taking viewers away from soaps, yet potential viewers seem ready to accept these “soap” replacements (and that’s what ID is really offering!) Again, my OP, but I’m beginning to see why soaps are dying: If viewers will watch these cheap-to-produce programs, then mission accomplished. BTW I didn’t see ID doing cartwheels to save AMC, OLTL, ATWT or GL! I’ll be supoorting the remaining soaps myself…PraiseGodHeCanMoveMountainshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09571746144822907096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2585163331194032530.post-83793362840922578432012-08-02T19:16:26.403-04:002012-08-02T19:16:26.403-04:00Too bad ID WASN’T interested in “saving” the cance...Too bad ID WASN’T interested in “saving” the canceled soaps, but they’re okay with cashing in on their memories and taking away viewing from the remaining soaps. This is NOT good news. It’s exploiting the feelings of soap fans (esp those of us who lost our favorite soaps). I won’t be watching because I want to watch soaps NOT more reality TV crud — and that’s ALL ID is really offering soap fans. Since, as much as I love General Hospital, been watching since I was a toddler, I think the longest running soap is Coronation Street. If you are only considering US soaps though yes you would be correct. This seems like an interesting block, and I love the fact that it's on ID as it's one of my favorite tv stations. :) I will only be missing the 3-4 hour block until Sep 10, then I will be missing the 2-3 hour block because of General Hospital. Would be great to see some old favorites though.Valeriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13884611176188941871noreply@blogger.com
