Los Angeles Dodgers Utility Player Kiké Hernandez Will Guest Star Monday on 'The Bold and the Beautiful'

Kiké Hernandez is taking his talents beyond the baseball field for his next role.

The Dodgers’ super utility player recently filmed a scene for the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. Hernandez plays himself in the episode, which is scheduled to be broadcast Monday, September 12.

“They asked me if I was down to do it and I said, ‘sure, why not, it would be kind of fun,’” Hernandez said in an interview with the Orange County Register. “It was interesting to try it out. I got curious, then it ended up being pretty fun. Easy work. I had like five lines.”

How does one go from playing baseball to acting?

A representative for the daytime series submitted a short list of possible players to the Dodgers. Joe Jareck, a spokesman for the team, figured Hernandez would be a good fit.

When he was a teenager in Puerto Rico, Hernandez appeared in a handful of commercials – “there was one about like medical insurance; I had one for college,” he said. His girlfriend, Mariana Vicente, got her first acting credit in The Bold and The Beautiful, so there were no surprises when Hernandez got on set.

Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner said he caught a brief glimpse of Hernandez’s scene.

“I’m looking forward to watching the episode,” Turner said. “He looked like he was comfortable. I think that’s his strong suit.”

Turner thinks Hernandez would do just fine if he wanted to act more in the future. Hernandez said he’s open to it.

“As long as it’s a one-time thing,” he said. “I don’t think I’d be down to do a recurring role. If it’s just a one-time thing during a day off it would be fine.”
