ONE LIFE TO LIVE’S KATHY BRIER GETS MARVELOUS IN THE OFF-BROADWAY REVIVAL OF THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES!
The Marvelous Wonderettes are hitting the stage once again! Producers Tom and Michael D’Angora are shimmying the Off-Broadway hit musical back to New York’s Theatre Row this spring. Featuring classic 50’s and 60’s hits including “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” “Son of a Preacher Man,” “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me,” and “It’s My Party”, the brand new production will star Emmy Award nominee Kathy Brier from daytime TV’s One Life to Live. Tickets can be purchased now at The Theatre Row box office or through Telecharge.com.
"The Marvelous Wonderettes" takes a cotton candy-colored musical trip down memory lane, paying homage to the high school songleader squads of the 1950s. When called upon to perform at their senior prom, four girls with dreams as big as their crinoline skirts, rally together to entertain their classmates in four-part harmony. Audiences experience their lives and loves through more than twenty chart-topping hits of the era!
Kathy Brier will star as Suzy Simpson, the sweet and naive songleader with a heart of gold and a fondness for bubblegum. Ms. Brier is best known for her role as Marcie Walsh McBain on ABC's One Life to Live. She has played the role for nine years and in that time, has received an Emmy nomination and a Spirit Award for Best Actress in a Drama. Kathy made her Broadway debut in Hairspray as Tracy Turnblad and made her Off-Broadway debut in the rock musical cult hit Bat Boy The Musical.
Joining Ms. Brier will be two-time Drama Desk Award nominee, Christina Bianco. With over 21 million views worldwide, she has performed her impressions on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Queen Latifah Show and The Today Show. As an actress, Ms. Bianco most recently starred in the one-woman Off-Broadway comedy, Application Pending, and has been featured in several editions of NEWSical the Musical and Forbidden Broadway.
