1979: ATWT's Bob and Lisa made Christmas Eve plans.
1979: EON's Deborah was kidnapped. 2000: Vicky McKinnon
appeared as a ghost during a séance on ATWT.

1949: On radio soap opera The Guiding Light, Mama Bauer (Adelaide Klein) died.

1967: On Dark Shadows, in a duel, Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid) shot his uncle, Jeremiah (Anthony George).



1979: On As the World Turns, Dr. Bob Hughes (Don Hastings) made a Christmas Eve date with his ex-wife, Lisa Shea Colman (Eileen Fulton).



1979: On Guiding Light, Roger Thorpe (Michael Zaslow) watched his daughter, Christina Bauer (Cheryl Lynn Brown), and mother-in-law, Barbara Thorpe (Barbara Berjer), outside a window of the Ed Bauer's house.

1979: On The Edge of Night, Phil (Sam McMurray) kidnapped Deborah Saxon (Frances Fisher).



1981: Former radio soap opera actress Marian Shockley died at age 70.

1981: On General Hospital, after some reluctance Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) encouraged his wife, Laura (Genie Francis), to go all out to land the commercial.



1983: Catherine Mary Stewart aired for the final time as Kayla Brady in Days of our Lives.



1984: On Santa Barbara, Mr. Bottoms (My Favorite Martian's Ray Walston) taught his class about safe sex and the importance of planning for children. His students included Ted Capwell, Laken Lockridge and Jade Perkins.

1991: Lucy Montgomery was born on As the World Turns.

1992: Tracy Middendorf aired for the final time as Carrie Brady in Days of our Lives.

2000: On As the World Turns, Jake's dead wife, Vicky McKinnon (Jensen Buchanan), appeared during a séance.



2001: Peyton List debuted as Lucy Montgomery on As the World Turns.

2004: Candice Daly, who played Veronica Landers on The Young and the Restless in the late 1990s, was found dead in a rundown Los Angeles apartment.

2006: Heather Tom aired for the final time as Kelly Cramer in One Life to Live.

  1. Wow! Peyton List debuted as Lucy Montgomery exactly 10 years after the character was born on the show. Fascinating tidbits like this is why I love the Today in Soap Opera History column so much. Thanks for putting it all together every day.

    FYI, Elaine Princi also played Dr. Kate Wingrad on Days from 1977-79. When James E. Reilly was headwriter, the Kate Winograd character, who had an affair with Bill Horton, was morphed into the Kate Roberts character, who had a child (Lucas) by her affair with Bill.
