Departing 'Days of our Lives' Star Kassie DePaiva: "It Saddens Me to Have Been Let Go From the Show Just as Eve Was Finally Finding Her Footing"

Kassie DePaiva
As reported by Serial Scoop last week, Kassie DePaiva will be leaving Days of our Lives and the role of Eve Larson in the coming months. The actress thanked fans and co-stars in a posting on her official website over the weekend:

"As the sand runs out of my hourglass over at Days… I have no regrets," DePaiva wrote. "I had a truly remarkable experience there. From the beginning as Eve showed up in town and throughout her bumpy ride through Salem it has all been a good time for me. I got to work with people that I have admired for many years. I especially want to thank Melissa Reeves, True OBrien, Casey Moss, Jen Lilley, Wally Kurth, and A Martinez. They each helped me find the "real" Eve. It saddens me to have been let go from the show just as Eve was finally finding her footing… But that is the way the Soap business goes. Characters come and go just as actors, writers, and producers. Some we love… Some we hate… But fortunately for all of us the stories still go on. Keep watching and here's to 50 more years of Days of our Lives!!!"

Emmy winner A Martinez makes his Days debut today as Eduardo, Eve's ex.

  1. Too true! Eve was never given a chance to become more then the caricature she was written as. The multitude of plot that Eve had in her past as a teen could have and should have been developed into someone extremely "meaty" that DePaiva could have played the shit out of. They cast her because of her reputation, and then completely put her into a box that Meryl Streep couldn't find her way out of. The only upside is that we get a few more weeks to see her really get something to work with, and doing some of it opposite A Martinez.
I was really rooting for KD because even in Eve's silliest exploits she managed to show her artistry. It's really sad, and I believe the saddest part is that she was sacrificed because Days believes they will get a ratings boost from this contrived ploy to relive their glory days.

  2. Kassie Will.be missed. She was finally getting to interact with other veteran actors (Wally Kurth, Galen Gering, A Martinez) & away from the younger set (J.J., Cole, Etc.) & getting decent writing for a change. Then they kill her only.daughter & now she is being written out of the show. Sad that all these characters (& the actors that portray them) to make room for vets who won't be in Salem for long. Who knows who will be left in Salem by next spring.
